Borderlands 2 DLC sends Chris Watters on a search for booty in this review for Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty.
"The main character in this DLC is a sexy pirate lady on the hunt for treasure."
Chris Watters has a twisted sense of what being sexy means. Clearly having a drill for a leg, a hook for an arm, a bionic eye, piercings everywhere, a flat chest, wanna be pirate outfit and bright red hair that looks like it is being held up by a seaman's semen are his idea of sexy.
1 Like Love the premise, but the main game might tire me. I will get THIS DLC eventually (really enjoyed the pirate theme), but as I learned with the GOTY edition of the first Borderlands, after finishing the main campaign it grows kinda boring for me and I need to play something else before returning for the DLC, otherwise I won't enjoy it...
1 Like review just about right! more Borderlands goodness for those looking for some more action in Pandora. If u play this right after finishing the main story, play it in true vault hunter mode, recommended.
1 Like Not sorry to say that I won't be getting this! The main campaign burnt me out...side mission after side mission after side mission only for other new areas to open up with even more side missions. I'm told the point of the side missions is to level up, but what's the point when people level up with you...but you can't progress otherwise! It's deception - to forced you on side missions for no other eventual reason than to lengthen out a game that would otherwise be about 5hrs long! The developers have said that they can't understand why it's IP hasn't been copied or used by other developers - I can see why and I'm glad. Not for me!
1 Like It adds to the big world and gives a chance to loot some good weapons. Already played through the game and I've found better guns in this DLC than the game itself. Its witty and a bit of fun. Only cost me $8 and I've paid that much for Android games that entertain me for less time.
If you want the DLC then enjoy it but if your hard pressed to shell out a few bucks then just wait. DLC is here to stay cheap or not.
1 Like This is not a main feature of the game, it's just a bunch of new content. This is exactly what we want DLC to be: aditional content that we have the option to add to an arleady complete game out of the box.
@pable28 Exactly. I'm tired of hearing players whine about DLC. Most DLC wouldn't even be made this early if it wasn't for console cert. and if my choice is to get DLC 1 month after release or 6 months just so some whiny gamer doesn't feel like he's been sleighted for some delusional reason, I'd rather have the SAME DLC 5 months earlier.
with such great voice acting, it's too bad the face animations are so stiff. that's my main problem with borderlands.
Way to soon to release DLC. They should have taken the extra time to add more content to it.
2 Like I like all new borderlands 2 content. More loot and more stuff to shoot. I'm okay with that. It also helps that I have to worry about school and work more than playing video games, so I have been playing it steadily, but I have not even finished my first play through. Haha.
1 Like Word to the wise- anyone on the fence about this DLC, steer clear of it for the time being. There were some major bugs introduced with this DLC- one of which is starting to wipe out character saved games. Check out the Gearbox forums for details and updates.

1 Like yeah, it's not even 2 months since it's out and you already have 2 DLC's. I guess at leats Gearbox is aware of how repetitive their game becomes after a few hours of play and are trying to introduce something fresh.
2 Like @GamerOuTLaWz Only 2 so far dude, calm down. First one was announced as a pre-order bonus' character DLC, and people knew it was coming. This is the 2nd DLC, or the first campaign DLC.
1 Like This DLC was pretty bad actually. Bland story, Characters that tried way to hard to be funny, and not much incentive to keep exploring. The new vehicle was slow and boring, and the last boss was hardly a challenge, let alone a thrill to fight. The loot was cool though, and the new areas were nice to look at. More like a 6/10
1 Like @Codester_41 I disagree on the sand skiff. It's quite a nimble vehicle, and much easier to control than the other 2 vehicles in vanilla with you being able to move at full speed facing any direction unlike the runner, and technical.
The maps are huge, lots of useless space yes, but there are tons of secrets to find, and there is a lot of map variety with great new music to boot.
The last boss was not difficult, and since when was a Borderlands last boss ever difficult? All last bosses for Borderlands 1 and it's DLC were easy. BL2 is the same. However you forget to mention that there are 2 raid bosses. At the very least 1 of them is hard as hell. Even Bee + CC combo is not going to take down Hyperius very easily if even that's possible.
was anyone else confused by this review?? he Chris made good point after good point about the game and then gives the DLC a 7. The only thing that he mentioned in the negative was the minor stuttering which depending on what platform your probably playing on might not even be an issue for you personally. I do hate the fact that they dropped this DLC so early, I feel like the game hasn't even had a chance to breath yet. This is why it is not even worth it a lot of times buying some of these titles day one and paying full price. I think the next BL title I will just wait for them to drop the GOTY edition for $30 and call it a day. I know there are a lot of gamers out there who chew through these games, but cmon Gearbox a month into the release is a little absurd for a DLC release.
4 Like @thehawk3986 I made good points because this is good DLC, and 7.0 is a good score. I know we often expect negatives to weigh against positives in a review, but there are varying degrees of positivity to think about as well. Something can be good, but not great or superb, so it helps to pay attention to what kind of positive words are being used, not just whether those words are positive or negative. Hope that helps clear things up, sorry for any confusion! :)

I'll wait and see how the other DLC are before eventually buying the season pass. Hopefully they are as good as this one!
6 Like The Bad
1) LOCKED RAID BOSSES: The 2 raid bosses are once per day only! That means you cannot farm them.
2) NO FARMING: The raid bosses drop seraph crystals and you only get 7 of them. These new crystals allow you to buy powerful weapons in a special store in the hub town of Oasis which cost 120 crystals except for one of them. Doing the math 120/7 = 18 days. It would take you 2 1/2 weeks to get ONE WEAPON.
The Good
1) NEW VEHICLE: The sand skiff is great, and fun to use, though the weapons are a tad lacking
2) VALUE: There is more than 10+ hours of content here, not including farming and the like.
3) BIG AREAS: Huge expansive, and unique areas.
4) MUSIC: The music as with BL2 in this expansion is fantastic as usual.
5) Challenging Raid Bosses: 1 Raid boss puts Terramorphous to shame.

I hate dlc I even avoid buying games that have it. I only bought fallout 3s dlc cause I loved the setting and game. Otherwise I feel like its an excuse for a half finished product although bl2 is very comprehensive but the mp is too chaotic and the art direction to me is random and crass.
