It's the same formula as always but it's still a blast

User Rating: 8 | Bomberman Live X360
After his first failed attempt at the 360 with Act Zero, Bomberman returns with the gameplay and design that we all know and love. You may have played this game before on other consoles but if you always wanted to blow up your buddies online, then you should have no trouble with the 800 mp ($10) price of Bomberman Live.

The gameplay is pretty much the same, but in case you've never played Bomberman before, your goal is to lay bombs and blow up your enemies with up to 8 players total. There are also blocks standing in your way which you can also blow up for some new power-ups that can increase your bomb flame, let you lay more than one bomb at once, help you run faster, etc. Everyone usually dies in one hit but if you turn "revenge" on, when you die, you can hang out on the outside and throw bombs in the middle at everyone else who's still playing. If you kill anyone while outside, you can come back in (which can also be turned off). The last player standing is the winner, and it keeps going until someone wins a certain amount of games.

The multiplayer, of course, is as fun as ever, especially since you don't need a Gold account to play online. The only major problem is there aren't too many people playing online so you might have only one game to join (if you don't make one yourself). I also wish they included more for single player too. You can play against bots and give them a difficulty, which is ok, but a new singleplayer adventure would have been a nice option too.

Another feature for this game is dressing up your Bomberman with many costumes to choose from what seems like an almost infinite combination of outfits. Costumes include a pirate, an astronaut, a princess, a wizard and many more. For the most part, there are some good choices here.

It may be the same formula as before but is that such a bad thing? This game proves that the Bomberman gameplay is still fun and hasn't aged a bit. Bomberman Live adds to the series with some great multiplayer and online play. I would recommend this game but only if you have plenty of friends to play with, that way you can really appreciate this game.
