I am a Bomberman fan. Bomberman has always been that video icon that, while he is an icon, isn't a very good one. Bomberman games in the recent past have gone downhill and haven't been very good. The multiplayer has stayed intact, and no matter which game you play, new or old, you'll find the multiplayer is fun, frantic, and addictive.

The Good:
-Frantic multiplayer
-Pretty good graphics on the level of a GBA game
-Five player multiplayer? It's unheard of! But amazingly chaotic and fun
-Multiplayer music is really catchy

The Bad:
-Playing against the computer can be frusturating
-Singleplayer is stupid
-Lack of variety in music
-While the multiplayer is fun and addictive, it wears off after about five hours of repeating the same battle
-AI can sometimes be really stupid

Bomberman is a must buy on the VC, no doubt about that. For the small ammount of points its worth, its a steal. The pick up and play manor serves the game well seeing as you can use Wiimote only allowing for you to just turn on your Wii and play.

The game's value comes into question though. The singleplayer of the game is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Its basically the multiplayer game except you fight different enemies to find a way out of the level. With no story and nothing to gain from it, stay away from the singleplayer.

The multiplayer is where this game shines and probably the only reason the Bomberman games today still have their fanbase. You can choose to battle the computer or your friends in a free for all battle to see who can survive the longest. It is simple too, all you have to do is place a bomb, and get away from it while trying to kill your enemy. This is what makes the game so frantic. You can easily avoid your enemy, but avoiding yourself and making those stupid little mistakes is what makes the game, fun, wild, and unpredictable. Five players also makes the game's unique brand of multiplayer fun, even playing with the copmuter you'll have a blast. The computer causes some problems that hurt the game though. There is no adjustable difficulty level so most of the time even a veteran such as myself will find themselves losing to the computer over and over and over. Another problem is that the computer will begin to repeat itself of having the character plant a bomb, run somewhere, plant another bomb and run back to the same place it was before, while you're just watching from the other side of the arena.

The graphics of this game are clean and look GBA level, which is good because this is an old game. Sometimes they get a little blurry, but it's nothing that takes away from the game too much. The music is also really great. The multiplayer music is really catchy and matches the scenario of Bomberman style chaos really well.

Overall, Bomberman 93 is an okay game. It's not bad, but its not really good. Even so, it's one of those must-have multiplayer games for the VC.
