SO FAR this game is great.

The campaign I believe is the games strong point. I personally don't understand how people do not like it because I find it to be the most enjoyable campaign in any Call of Duty to date. The campaign never had you doing the same kind of thing twice and kept the gameplay varied with stealth missions and then you ride vehicles or are in a full on battle. This is also the most story driven COD and I believe they do a great job and the story is impressive. Not once did I not know what was going on until the end and that was the point. All I have to say is that the ending is very surprising and satisfying. Sadly the campaign is very short only being around 7-8 hours long depending on the difficulty but there is plenty more to do if you do not have Live.
Zombies returns in Black Ops and is another solid addition. They added a few new things and kept the core mechanics of Zombies alive which is great because it was perfect in WAW. They also made it much easier to play by yourself as you can buy Revive in the beginning and use it on yourself once if you die. This is great but the real fun is with your friends. I personally find it much more complicated and challenging than the last Zombie game types which is sad but it is still very fun. There is a new type of zombie that runs on all fours which is my only true complaint. This makes it much harder to survive as you now have to watch all around you and the ground to see these guys run. They also explode when killed and blind you if you get caught in the explosion. The new maps are huge and filled with secrets and surprises and this is another great addition.
Along with zombies there is a Dead Ops Arcade game mode which is obtained by freeing yourself from a chair on the main menu and typing in DOA in a terminal in the room. This mode is fun and can be played with up to 4 players. It isn't as deep of a mode as Zombies but it is still great and fun to play. Im glad that something that would normally cost money on the marketplace is given to you for free with the game.
Most people play these games for multiplayer so if you enjoyed WAW or COD4 you are in luck because I believe they stayed fairly close to these games while adding much more content. The guns seemed very balanced but I must admit there are a few slightly overpowered guns in my opinion but they are unlocked early and can be bought like everyone else so no one should complain. The credit system was pretty stupid at first as I hated unlocking one gun and then having to buy it after unlocking it but it slowly grew on me. I enjoy how you don't have to have all the guns so if I don't like a gun I simply don't buy it and save my money for something else. The customization is much better and by the time you buy everything to customize your gun It really is YOUR gun and it would be hard to find one just like it. You can customize everything from and emblem which you make to the shape and color of your dot sight. Also there are 15 camos including gold which you get around 14th prestige (there are 15 all together). The levels go up to 50 and I enjoy this as it is easier to rank and you don't go as many levels without something new. The maps are very enjoyable despite having almost no where to go for snipers. If you enjoy sniping than this game most likely isn't for you because it is WAY too hard. Slight of Hand Pro doesn't work for them and when you zoom in it zooms in a spiral motion before settling in a random place. This is very sad because sniping was great and now it is fairly hard. While sniping is hard its not impossible and it is still fairly easy to do well while sniping. This game also includes a theatre mode similar to Halo and other games which is very fun because you can share videos and pictures with friends. Also there are Wager Matches to gamble money which is fun as well. You are able to choose game modes where you bet a certain amount so it is still possible to play with friends while only betting a very small amount of credits. This is a great mode and a good way to vary the gameplay in a COD game.
You are also able to play Xbox live with bots and friends which is fun and has its own leveling system. I do not believe that you can play offline with this mode but I am not sure entirely because that would be a shame. This is a great way to practice a new gun or strategy without the penalty of ruining you Kill Death ratio or other things.
Overall this game has a ton of content and Treyarch truly deserve recognition for a great game that goes back to the COD formula before MW2 and adds new content as well. I can only hope that this game doesn't turn bad like MW2 did but with a game mode for basically every type of gamer this seems very unlikely.
