Boktai was at least a great game. I loved it personally. If you want to buy a bargain game with some pretty good graphics and some nice gameplay, pick this up and you'll figure out why I, as well as a bunch of friends, love this game. It has a great mix of gameplay, weirdness, and fun for me and probably most other people. Unfortunately, this game hasn't captured the hearts of too many, but if it was legal, I'd copy and sell as many cartridges as I could of this game. As said before, Boktai IS a great game. One of the best for the Game Boy Advance, really. Sure, the controls are a little screwy (you have to hold it on a diagonal a lot) and the music and other sounds are weird, but you still have to love the game. The story was a little weird as well, but I liked the fact that Django (or whatever you decide to name your character) is a vampire hunter and is avenging his father's death. The story is that you are the son of a great vampire hunter known as Ringo. No one knows who your mother is. In Ringo's last crusade against the Count of Groundsoaking Blood, he mysteriously disappeared. You inherit his legacy and gun. You have to go around killing vampires because you are trying to save Mani the Moon Beauty, who turns out to be more than she seems. Along the way, you save a girl named Lita, the keeper of the Solar Tree. As you go, you can return to the Solar Tree and she will tell you what you can do there. The weapon you use is a weapon called the "Solar Gun". It uses the power of the sun to destroy many creatures. These creatures also can be a bit odd at times. For example, there are creatures so dumb, they walk straight into a bunch of sunlight, killing themselves. Anyway, back to the Solar Gun. The Solar Gun consists of three main parts: the frame, battery and lens. You can add some grenades to the mix as well if you like. All the parts are customizable. Different parts have different advantages. For example, the Phalanx frame (the most powerful of a certain type of frame), is extremely powerful close up, similar to a shotgun. Another, the Samurai, fires a sword-shaped blast that can be held and swung in a circle. It can even go through walls! The different elemental lenses all have advantages against elemental enemies. What's pretty cool is the cartridge has a solar sensor built into it. If you're playing in a really sunny area, you can get up to 8 "blocks" of sunlight. The higher it gets, the faster you can recharge the Solar Gun. Also, the gun will recharge automatically if you are under a skylight or outside, but it's pretty insignificant. You have to be careful, though, if you stay in strong sunlight for too long, your Solar Gun will overheat and you will need to go into shade for a while. The solar sensor can sense "sunlight" through clouds and if the sunlight is strong enough, you can let it reflect off a window on to the sensor, and that will work too. The game is pretty easy, and it doesn't take very long to beat. After you have beaten it, you can go back and you'll have all the items you had when you beat the game. It doesn't take long to learn the controls. Again, Boktai is a very good game and I recommend it to people who enjoy weird games.
