Only reason I bought a 360

Was anxiously awaiting this game ever since it's ideas were first being thrown around....though I was rather disappointed to find it was coming out exclusively on the 360, a system utterly devoid of any games I would consider worthwhile (FPS, Sports, Racing are not my thing). But I bucked up and found a good deal and got one regardless, and it was worth it.

To any fan of Akira Toriyama's OTHER works (not DBZ), the story and it's quirky sense of humor will be easily recognizable. A interesting mix of old school Dragon Quest meets Dr. Slump, or in other words, a hardcore homage to golden age of Shonen manga. If that's your genre, you'll love this game's story in all it's hammy cliched goodness. If not, it might come off a tad overdone.

Combat system is great, giving a lot of flexibility to play styles as well as allowing you to easily set-up clear tactical strategies. The variety of classes and largely complete freedom to develop characters however you wish is refreshing and can add to the replayability.

The world design and graphics are great, to the point it almost feels like you're literally play an old Dragon Quest anime, a sensation I've wanted to see in game for years.

There are several love it/hate it system though. It uses the old school save point system for hard-saves (though does have a checkpoint system for soft-saves, if you happen to get wiped out), none of which heal your characters. I personally like this feature and hated games that jumped on the bandwagon to use the extremely common/full heal save points mechanic that ultimately trivialized the games in my opinion.

Also the voice work is....well...pretty awful to be honest. I barely made it to the first encounter with Nene before switching to the Japanese dub, which is MUCH better done by far (the voices fit the character's soooo much better), though if you absolutely hate subbed anime, you're probably better off just muting voices if the english VA work causes you problems.

QTE. While mercifully rare, and well integrated when it does happen, this game did come out during the time when everyone and their mother was trying to cram QTE into everything, whether it was needed or not. I personally despise QTE and think it utterly ruins games, but as mentioned above, is done well enough in this case that it's tolerable the few times it's required.

All in all, a great game for those who enjoyed the old school rpgs of yester-year, but probably not for everybody. Though it gave exactly what I was looking for, and aside from the english VA and QTE which I count off a little for, still a great game.
