This game is not as great as everybody calims it to be. It should not be a platinum hit.
Blinx: The Time Sweeper is the first 4-D game ever made. It is only available on XBOX. It is basically about you having to be a janitor cat at the Time Factory, a factory that can control time. Sometimes, the factory has some glitches. The glitches eventually turn into time crystals, which can turn into monsters. The plot is very vague: the Tom-Tom gang, a group of thugs, are trying to steal the time crystals, so it is your duty to stop them. Along the way, there are many crystals and gold "coins" to collect, and different monsters to fight. The crystals you collect can be used to control time. You need three out four crystals you collect in a row to be the same color to get one try to control that form of time. If all four you collect in a row are the same color, you get two tries to use that time control. The levels all have medals that can give bonus features.
The plot is not really that good, and the puzzles are very easy. You start to get bored of the game during the first few levels. Also, the levels get noticeably harder after a while; it gets very frustrating to retry the levels over again because all anybody has to do is touch Blinx, and you die. You can use a vacuum cleaner to suck up objects and shoot them at monsters. After you get enough gold, you can upgrade your items, or buy new ones. The problem is, you can only have one sweeper or any other item at a time. If you want the item you owned earlier on, you will just have to buy it again, and your current item will be discarded.
The plot isn't that great, even if you can control time. The items you can buy are very expensive. But, it is interesting to be able to control time to your own advantage. That is what makes it a little worth playing. It is worth playing if you are bored and want to play something that has to do with time.
GRAPHICS:
The graphics of this game is pretty good. The water is very realistic. When underwater, the environment looks incredible. When on land, the walls look a little realistic, and so does the ground. But, the buildings in the distance look completely ridiculous.
The graphics of Blinx and the monsters are alright, but they really look like clay models. The way they move and talk look good, and they don't really look blurry or fuzzy. But, the monsters in the game look like it only took about twenty seconds to think up. The all look pretty similar, and are not spectacular or unbelievable.
SOUND:
The sounds of the game are terrible. There are little, if any, sound effects during gameplay. The talking does not sound that good, and the songs are not even music. They are just some very annoying, loud, fast tunes.
The sound could have been much better; it seems as if nobody even tried to make the game sound remotely good. They could have had better talking sounds, and should have added some (realistic) sound effects. The music was just horrible, and any sound other than the music was almost non-existent.
VALUE:
I would say that this game was just average. It is not as good as everybody says, so it is a good thing that it is a platinum hit. It might be worth twelve to eighteen dollars. Buying it for any more than twenty dollars is a complete rip-off, and probably illegal. If you like this kind of genre, I would say buying it will be alright for a cheap price.
TILT:
Overall, this game was very unspectacular. It could have been much better if they put in a better plot into the story. This way, the game would actually be interesting. Also, they should have given the monsters some more health, and they have given Blinx at least some health.
Also, if there were better songs and some good sound effects, the game would be much better. I say that if you do not like using a lot of time on games you don't love, it is not worth it. Don't believe that this game is good just because it is a platinum hit. The producers of the game seemed to either be lazy, or had just about ignored making a good plot and giving better sound effects. It is not worth wasting a lot of time on.
