Since the other one was purged I'm going to make this new one.
My first eight posts will be about each area.
Area 1:
The music has best intro. I don't know how most of you feel about it but I LOVED exploring the rooms that have no real purpose other than weapon upgrades (Homing missiles are all I use from tank though.) I like how you have to backtrack though this awesome area two more times. Not that I like backtracking but I just love the music and the memory of first playing it. When I first beat level 6, I spent hours searching for Area 7 in Area 1 & 2 having no clue where it was. I discovered Area 1 has items right at top of first part of it (You can get them with WALL2, or WALL1 and Hovering across screen). Interesting discovery when I found it, but I was searching for Area 7. I felt stupid when I had forgotten about high room in Area 2 I found when I first played it. So I eventually found it after a few hours in different areas.

Who doesn't like blowing the crap out of hundreds of evil baddies all to rescue your pet frog?
That says AWESOME all in itself!

My most fond memory is also finally discovering Area 7 in this game.
When I first heard its frantic, fast-paced techno music, my jaw dropped. It's still the best damn NES music of all time.

When I finally beat the game. I remember staying up really late in my living room with my brother, and we finally beat it after taking turns playing. We used a game genie for infinite continues, and I remember my parents watching the ending and the credits with us.
And yes, I love level 7's music too. And level 5's.

I love Area 7 music too. I also love the music of Area 2. I think that's the largest area map.

Area 2:
-I hate those small snake like bots that are too short, you cannot fire at them with your regular tank gun
Cool Area 2 remix music:

I have a lot of good memories playing this game. I still haven't beaten it though. It's a little too hard and my patience is a little too short. I can beat the first four areas with no problem, and the stage 5 boss if I have a full gun, but I think with a little more practice I can beat him with just grenades if I learn where to go to dodge the bubbles. Stage 6 boss might actually be harder with those missiles he shoots, but other than that he's just Stage 2 all over again. Stage 7 shouldn't be too much of a problem since he's just another frog with another easy-to-learn pattern. I've seen videos of Stage 8's boss, and with a full gun he's nothing.

I never owned it but I've played it many times. I'm about to beat it for the first time right now. It's a great game. I know they are both made by Sunsoft but Fester's Quest took a lot from this game...the frogs, the gun power-ups, the "whip" boss.
This game could've been a 10/10 if it had a password system and if every enemy in the game wasn't solid gray (except for the few pink palette swaps).
Since I've never gotten too far in the game when I was young, my favorite memories are the intro and the first stage.

And I agree with you Chase, my favorite memory of Area 1 was just running around aimlessly, clearing out meaningless rooms.

Area 5 Crab Boss: Worst part of game. It's easy to get a few good shots right at first. But on my way to Area 4, I stop in the rooms of Area 1 and get full gun power. If I can get through Area 4 without losing any of it, and then to the crab, he's a breeze.

The other 4 bosses were pretty easy though except for the Area 5 Crab-Boss from Hell.

The pause trick works on you if you get hit when pausing. The pause trick may not work on the crab but pausing every few seconds while blasting the crab with grenades can take down about 2/3 of his life.

Yeah, the crab is so annoying without full gun power. I remember I used to have so much trouble fighting the cube boss, and I could never beat it as a kid. It's funny how I loved games that were so hard back in the day. I used to play friggin Battletoads over and over again, but I could never get past the speed car level. I still loved that game...

It's like N64's Goldeneye. So few times would I beat a level or get a time cheat. Now I an always complete it everytime I play it.
The crab boss from this game does not change.

Question for anyone in level eight. One of my friends said I was stupid for doing this but at one point there is a huge room with blocks and spikes kind of like a maze. The exit of this room is just under where you start and does anyone else just take damage to the tank by dropping through the first set of spikes for a shortcut?

This sentence contradicts itself. No wait, actually it doesn't.

I do that all the time since towards the end I get a little patient and that room is a supreme ***** to navigate through.
