I must be a loser, because I think this game rocks. I found the varied play on each level kept it engaging for hours.

I'm a little surprised at the Game Spot review. I thought this was a fun little game, especially for $7.99.

Each level requires you to learn new skills, and I found the variety of viruses to be very interesting. Despite what the official review says, the gray ones are more magnetic - so they come at you faster. The pink one aren't effected by your shield. There are large ones that take a lot more shots to kill. And there are some that can only be destroyed by shooting them through another virus.

Another cool thing is the arcade style ranking. It's been a while since I cared about an online ranking system, but for some reason it's fun in this game. And the only way to do really well in the ranking, is to play through the game from the beginning.

If you just keep hitting continue, you'll get through the game in a few hours, and probably not have much fun. The real joy of Blast Factor is getting good at it. Improving your speed, hitting the hard levels, and watching yourself crawl up the high score list.

To me, this is the second best game on the PS3 so far, second only to Resistance: Fall of Man. I grew up with games like Asteroids, Space Invaders, Tempest, and Centipede. Blast Factor takes me back to those days and reminds me that a game doesn't need to cost a billion dollars to make in order to be fun.
