Bionic Commando Rearmed team re-formed
Ex-GRIN developers establish retro-minded Might and Delight studio in Stockholm, "advancing back to the '80s."
Almost exactly a year after 2008's Bionic Commando Rearmed was released, the game's developer, Swedish studio GRIN, closed its doors. That developer is gone, but its demise paved the way for multiple new studios to be established.
A couple dozen former GRIN developers from Terminator: Salvation started up Outbreak Studios to work on games for the iPhone and PC before the closure had even been announced, and today the Bionic Commando Rearmed team announced its reformation as Might and Delight. The developers did not specify a first project but proclaimed they were "here to repeat our former success."
"It's no secret we love retro," the developer said. "Our ambition is to continue doing what we started with Rearmed. Small, fresh games with strong old school flavor."
GRIN's Bionic Commando Rearmed for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC was the first--and the best-reviewed--of four titles the Swedish studio would produce in its final year. While Rearmed sold well out of the gate, the studio's Wanted: Weapons of Fate, Terminator: Salvation, and stand-alone revamp of Bionic Commando all fell critically and commercially short.
