BLACK shows promise, but fails to deliver.

One look at BLACK and the initial though may be, hey this is one stylish game. Well, that may just be true. BLACK is graphically stunning, you will be amazed at the level of detail and work that goes into every level giving the game an epic blockbuster movie kind of feel. If only this can be said about the rest of the game. The story of BLACK is told between chapters and is just plain boring by any standard. With unskipable, uninspired cutscenes and one very disappointing ending the story will leave you wishing for a lot more. As for gamplay, it's pretty standard for a FPS. You will go through seven different environments blasting hundreds of enemies and causing tons of explosions with multiple weapons alone or with your teammate controlled by the games spotty AI, its a real shame that this game does not offer any sort of multiplayer since the game is relatively short. The game offers many different objectives for you to complete but they are all extremely similar and the game doesn't require you to complete them on any difficulty level. There are a few moments in the game that feel rewarding and the beginning of the game actually kicks off with a great start, even the sound and voice acting great. However, the game gets repetitive and boring after you have gotten past the first few missions.

In the end Black shows that it has the potential to be a great shooter, but gets shot down by too many problems such as boring story, single minded gameplay, bad enemy AI, and a lack of multiplayer. Compared to the many other shooters we have today, BLACK falls flat and shooter fans should consider looking elsewhere for a more complete game.
