Black, Criterions first FPS brings a breath of fresh air to the genre. With Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six being two of the best rated FPS's around, the genre needed a wake up call. Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon were very stealthy, but Black is the complete opposite. You hardly ever let go of the trigger. Even the ammo describes what type of game it is. 500 + 60 rounds it the max amount you can carry in an assault rifle. 100% un-conservative with guns. The first level sets up the game perfectly, short, non-stop and plain fun. Just a big open street with handy cars to blow up. Most of the other levels, however, are very long, and - unlike Halo - you cannot load from check points. However, they are all fast paced, and have the right mix of stealth and complete mayhem. The only problem is the difficulty, it is unbalanced. I breezed through the first 5 levels, but then, the 6th one is proving impossible, i'm stuck on it. My friend got the game in febuary 06, and within a week, got up to that level. It took him 2 weeks to do that, and he has still not completed the 7th one. Now if that ain't unbalsnce what is? Apart from that, black is a great looking, original and very fun arcade type shooter, for anyone who just want's to blow stuff up.
