This game will suck you in but you have to let it.

This is a game as you most likely already know by the plethora of reviews that are out there, that this game is all about immersion. It really drives this home very very fast. The sound-scape, artistry, and voice acting really sell it well making you really feel like your in this demented place.

I really like how the story works. It gives this kind of film noir feel on how you have to act in a manner similar to a detective and seek out the pieces to the story. Sure your fed the main plot line but it's interesting to go off the beaten path and find all the small little things that build up the whole story itself. By not doing this you only get maybe a quarter of the actual story and missing the best point of the game being its story.

As for combat I have mixed feelings about. Most of the general weapons I have no problems with except the tommy gun. It just doesn't behave as I feel it should. When I use a tommy gun I am expecting a spray of bullets and some crazy recoil but this it just steps up an inch each bullet you fire. It seems far to rigid. The plasmids I really do like and I love how you can mix things up. Such as attaching 4 mines to a teddy bear and firing it at a Big Daddy with telekinesis. By the way that does a lot of damage and works great. As for the Big Daddy fights I don't think there is any need to discuss them since every review already has laid them out for you. Yes they are some of the best fights you will have in a video game, enough said.

My biggest issue with combat though is how the enemy moves. This could just be my taste here but i find the common enemies move far to fast, it doesn't have any realism to it. I can understand the spider slicers but the lead heads and thugs, it just gets tiresome. Also I really hate not having a cover button since there are so many instances I wish i had one. It could have been if you held 'A' down you would take cover. Its not game breaking but I really wish i had it, I guess its something you get use to especially after R6:Vegas. Of course now in Vegas i want to grab peoples grenades with my mind and throw them back...

When your playing this game I find that you have to really let go of standard gaming coventions of just trying to finish it and looking for the next scripted moment. This game you really really really need to explore, listen and look around to truly enjoy it, the game gets better as you find out more about it. This game will suck you in but you have to let it. Its not for your typical run and gun crowd, I find that its more geared towards an older gaming audience which is nice to see for an xbox title.

** Had to add .5 more to my score the further i got into the game ** Its true it just gets better and better.
