Solid gameplay, good story but I can't quite put my finger on why Columbia just doesn't give me that feeling Rapture did

User Rating: 8.5 | BioShock Infinite X360
Sadly this game disappointed me just a little. It could be because I had such high expectations. I loved the first two games and thought this one was going to be that much better. Well it didn't live up to the hype but is still a very solid game that I enjoyed all the way through.

The story in the Bioshock series has always played a huge role as well as the world that it takes place. The story is good but not as great as everyone says or as it could have been. The best part is the relationship between Booker and Elizabeth. You really begin to care for the girl and she makes the experience more enjoyable. You miss her when she is not there. Sadly though there are not as many choices to be made as in the previous games. You get a couple of choices but they don't effect the gameplay or the ending as in the previous games. I really missed having to make these moral decisions. Overall good story but nothing groundbreaking by any means.

The gameplay is very solid and riding the sky lines is fun and the controls while on the sky line is solid. I believe going back to the other games I would find myself missing this aspect of the gameplay. Another new feature are the tears that Elizabeth can open. This gives some strategy to the combat. The weapons and vigors are good as always but nothing new or exciting really. Overall good responsive solid gameplay.

Sadly and I never thought I would say this but I miss the multiplayer from Bioshock 2. The mp wasn't anything spectacular by any means but it was fun and had plenty of unlockables. Really it just gave me a reason to keep going back to rapture. With Infinite I don't feel there is much more to do now that I have finished the main game. I can and probably will play through it on the 1999 difficulty. But with only one ending the thrill of making different choices won't be all that exciting. There is downloadable content now but I wish they would at least do some coop or something. I think this game could make a fun mp destination for those tired of the military shooters. Just take what Bioshock 2 did and build on it further. I feel a game with this much hype should be played more than the 10-15 hours it takes to complete.

One last thing is the early demos looked freaking awesome. The gameplay looked like Bioshock on crack. The telekinesis, Elizabeth's ability to power up the vigors and so forth. Then what we got was normal Bioshock in a different world. Disappointing to say the least.

Overall another solid entry into the series and I commend them for leaving Rapture and trying something different. But I cant help but feel this game could have been more.
