Wipe away your debt!!!!

User Rating: 9.5 | BioShock Infinite PC
Do you remember the last time played a character and felt connected to it?
If you haven't been into the Bioshock series, I guess it's the perfect time to let you know through this review that it's time to experience THE GAME!!

A game that sure will set the par, a game that will the other shooters think about the expression "Shoot first, ask later.", a game that is infinitely engaging in its story, characters, action, cinematic, mechanics.

You name any aspect of a game, it's there. Bioshock shocked me with its unparallel storytelling methodology and how engaging the action is, and most importantly, how the characters are just so well-developed.

Welcome to Infinite, WELCOME TO BIOSHOCK!

Storytelling and presentation:

You play as a named character, Booker Dewitt, a man who has a debt to pay to someone. His mission to kidnap a girl from a city called Columbia which is ruled a prophet named Comstock where he brain washes the inhabitants of this floating city on the sky
.
You're sent via a rocket-like slumber which you wake up in the city of Columbia precisely in the year of 1912, before even the original Bioshock (2007) which takes place in somewhat the 1960s.

I won't spoil the fun because this game has a lot of spoils and it would be wrong to continue. But to review it fair and square, it starts relatively slow, picking up after few hours in the game. However; once you've made progress in the game, you're gonna be WOWED. The story has a deep content of details. That's why I don't recommend to play it every now and then (like me for being committed with other things) Play it all at once, in one big dose because it's damn worth it!! And YES! There is a twist you won't even see it coming.

Score: 9.5 out of 10

Conclusion: I appreciate complex, engaging storytelling, but at the beginning, it was a little slow and confusing, it's not a bad thing at all and forgivable because later on, there's more to make up for.

Voice Acting and Music:

Just before pressing "Play", you'll realize that this game has more than a just radio-like tune in the main menu. I've found the music in Infinite compliments the type of environment you're in or at. The second you arrive in the city, the music changes into a chill-out tone and once the action begins, it picks up and heated action begins to flow.

Voice Acting isn't found in normal games, this isn't a low-budget game, we're talking about a series that could save the FIRST PERSON SHOOTER genre, the next time they develop a Bioshock game. The voice acting here is just marvelous, fabulous! Why??

For starters, the scripts feel natural like real people and that's not it, it makes the story more interesting when the tune of voice has seriousness, anger, and fear. The voice acting takes you high and low and the characters' voice diverse, it's not the regular voices you hear in shooters.

I am amazed by how Irrational Games took the time to put up a well-written and voiced dialogue between Booker and the girl, Elizabeth and the rest of the villains found the game.

Score: 10 out of 10.

Conclusion: I enjoyed every bit of word that came out of Booker's mouth. XD

Gameplay:

Now, we've come to the cream of the crop. If there's any improvements I can pinpoint here, it's the gameplay mechanics, THE NEW MECHANICS, for the series. When I played Bioshock Infinite, I quickly felt familiar with the controls, at least that's what I thought. As soon as you have your first vigor (magic weapons), things change a bit. Battles, and gunfire become fluid, diverse, and YES people! There's a hook instead of a wrench. The hook allows to you zip in the skylines and fast-forward to a certain location and I fell in love with it because the damage being done to an enemy is significant.

Vigors or magic, aren't only or two, they're like 9 or 8 varying from lighting, charming, crow birds attacking, and the best vigor that I liked, is the shield-like vigor that lets you absorb enemy fire and throw it back at them. The biggest change in Bioshock Infinite is how the vigors are changed, you don't hit a button and poof, that is it. Now, you can use the alternative button to place a trap depending on the kind of vigor you're equipped with and they work effectively.

Although personally, I think the gameplay is the best improved feature of this entry, but sadly to say, not without its flaws. I've noticed some hiccups during some heated action while gunning down enemies. The game gradually slows down, I hear that the console versions are worse at that than the PC. That I cannot comment on. Also, sometimes for no reason I can not control my character, it refuses to sprint.

Minor flaws don't make the experience negatively bad, sometimes it frustrates YES. But you wouldn't be put off when you progress in the story. That alone will make up for everything.

Score: 9 out of 10.

Graphics:

I put this category last, because I really don't have anything to say. It's just beautiful and if your PC is powerful then enjoy the crispy, cell-shaded graphics and enjoy looking at the well-detailed facial expressions of Elizabeth.
I will always recommend playing Bioshock Infinite on the PC for better quality in graphics.

Score: 10 out of 10.

Conclusion: I just fell for the graphics pretty quick.

General Pros and Cons:

+_+ Epic, deep, and complex story with a twist.

+_+ Engaging characters, makes you care for them.

+_+ Intense Gameplay Mechanics.

+_+ Beautiful Graphics.

-_- Minor hiccups.

-_- Starts a little slow.

Conclusion: Always take a game for what it offers, don't compare it to another genre. I wouldn't just say this because I've become a fan. I will say this become Irrational Games has earned my respect for them. I just can't to see the Bioshock Vita. Play this game, and believe me, every dollar/ Riyal in my case, is a positive, well-spent investment in your gaming library.
