Wonderful story, setting, and characters but with very average gameplay.

User Rating: 7 | BioShock Infinite X360
Let me just say first and foremost that this game has a very deep well thought out story filled with intriguing characters and plot twists. It's one of those games that just left me will my jaw hanging open while the credits rolled. For that reason, I recommend every gamer play this game just to experience the incredible world, story, and characters.

The reason I rated this game a 7, is simply because of the somewhat dull gameplay. Maybe it's because I played so much of the first two games and expected something more fresh. In no way is the gameplay bad though. The controls are very responsive and many of the battles (especially late game) are very exciting. For some reason though, about midway through the game I started getting a bit bored. There are many areas to explore and MANY boxes and barrels to scavange for supplies in, but I began to feel like a chore for me to check every nook and cranny of each area. I found myself sprinting more often and following the in game objective arrow to get from A to B quickly just so I could see what happens next in the story.

This game is constantly addressing complex real world issues such as religion, politics, sexism, racism, etc. The game constantly had me pausing the game and going over in my head what just happened. This is NOT a simple story arc. When I finished the game, I found myself amazed and mentally exhausted at the same time. For that reason, I can't see myself playing through a second time. (atleast not for a loooong time lol)

In conclusion, Bioshock Infinite was an enjoyable game overall, although the gameplay was a bit dull in my opinion. If you are tight on money or on the fence, I would suggest waiting awhile for the game to drop in price. It is hard for me to justify buying the game at full price because of the lack of replay value. Issues aside, Bioshock Infinite is a game every gamer should eventually play through atleast once just for the epic tale the game tells.
