a yoonik! Bioshock Infinite review: You have to play this!

User Rating: 10 | BioShock Infinite PC

PROS:

- Incredibly gorgeous floating city setting that's as close to being in Heaven than nothing else, except for all the machine-men, racist population, slave labor, weirdly-placed 1980s music or drugs that grant magical fire- or crow-wielding powers. Also, artwork and design elements that scream equal-parts beauty and mystery

- A great mind-tangling plot crossing the lines of historical drama and science-fiction that will surely blow you away as much as the good M. Night Shyamalan or many Christopher Nolan films (if not better)

- Intricate level design that save the game from being a totally linear experience, and also lead to lost wanderers (if not for that handy arrow magically appearing on the ground), especially the really cool skyhook parts

- Spectacular voice acting and character animation, which are all intriguing down to their bones, like those twins that keep popping out of nowhere

- Extremely useful companion in the form of Elizabeth, a rarity in the gaming industry filled with dumb, immovable companions (ehem, Elder Scrolls/Fallout)

CONS:

- Pretty weak gunplay for a first-person shooter, plagued with recoil and a rather small weapons portfolio

- Slightly off-putting appearance of Elizabeth, which I don't mind but still...
