Bioshock Infinite is a breathtaking experience through the stunning floating dystopia.

User Rating: 9 | BioShock Infinite PC

Arriving in Columbia was a pleasant chill, almost representing paradise itself. It's breathtakingly beautiful to explore many areas of this magnificent city. It's full of life, beauty: it's a perfection... Alright, not exactly a perfection, hiding it's dark sides of racism. It represents racism in a heart-braking way, making this dystopia a heaven outside, but a hell inside. It's a truly powerful game in it's narrative. Shortly, Infinite is a work of art. It has a story not to be forgotten, and visuals to adore with it's colorfulness. And it has pretty damn good gameplay.

Comparing all the aspects of the game, the gameplay is probably the weakest. But it's still enjoyable. The scale of battles make for a good way to perform your strategies with the vigors. All of them provide for some unique abilities. They make the gameplay replayable to perform different strategies and to experiment with them. It's an unique fun, for sure. And the guns are plentiful, but often are found on the environment, which makes it quite frustrating to find the guns that you really want. There's plenty of shops in Columbia. and they offer vigors, salts, ammo and health packs, but not weapons. But, the guns are enough balanced and satisfying to shoot. What makes the battles joyful, is the creative enemy variation. The special enemies being the most impressive, being built by colorful parts making the bodies a definition of art. From here, the combat would be alright due to the few flaws such as the lack of meaningful choices and getting repetitive. However, these two aspects make the combat something greater: the helpful sidekick and the fun skylines. Elizabeth got to be the best character ever, mentioning her beauty and helpfulness. Even her ways of expressing emotions. She helps giving you all the supplies possible gradually and in the right time, and she lock-picks. She also opens tears from another worlds to spawn different supplies and weapons. About the skylines, they're fun. I was skeptical about them, but they work perfectly.

Infinite is a narrative masterpiece, easily earning a medal for an amazing storyline. Why? Because it's unique, engaging and at the end, mind-blowing and thought-provoking. It follows the story of Booker, sent in Columbia to rescue the girl Elizabeth, wiping away his debts. But he's in danger: he is the False Shepard and Comstock tries to stop him with large armies ready to fight. I won't spoil anything, because this game needs to be experienced, to be understood. It's the kind of storyline that no one would do it better.

Some people are complaining about poor models, but I highly disagree. The models are just right and they don't dramatically matter graphically speaking. But, what you need to know is that Infinite is a marvel when it comes to visuals. Brilliantly released reflections make the visual work stunning. Even on low settings, this game graphically impresses. About the sound, it is top notch. There's amazing performances and the soundtrack is... beautiful.
