BIOSHOCK:

Welcome to the underwater utopia known as Rapture. Bioshock stands out as one of the best single player shooters of the century. Its very rarely that you get a shooter with loads of replay ability. Bioshock took that challenge and blew it out of the park by a long shot.

Bioshock takes place in the year 1960. You start off the game as a passenger on an airplane flying over the Atlantic Ocean. Suddenly, your plane crashes and you find yourself in the wreckage of your plane. A lighthouse in the distance is your only possible change of survival, little do you know, it is also your best chance for death. The lighthouse is were the entire story begins. As you make your way through the abandon light house, you get your first taste of Bioshock's eerie environment. At the end of the lighthouse there is an elevator. When you enter the elevator, a projection of a film comes onto the door. As you ride the elevator, you learn about the city of Rapture. When the film is over, you get your first view of the enormous underwater utopia.

When the elevator reaches its destination, you encounter your first Splicer. Splicers are the inhabitants of Rapture. They are people that have been mutated by Atom, the one thing that every single person down in Rapture would die for, consider atom as a drug. Whilst in the elevator you here a man's voice, this man's name is Atlas. Atlas is a faceless character that guides you through Rapture via a small radio that you carry with you. After a while you learn how to fight, you get your first Plasmid, and you start to get a hang of the gameplay.

As you advance through the story you'll find better weapons, plasmids, and upgrades. Everywhere around Rapture there are machines called "Power to the People". These machines will allow you to upgrade a gun of your choice up once. There are enough upgrade stations around Rapture to fully upgrade all your guns.

Soon enough you'll encounter your very first Big Daddy and Little Sister. Little Sisters are little girls that are just full of that juicy atom that everyone wants so much, but to get to her, you'll have to take out here daddy. Big Daddies aren't pushovers. Defeating them is difficult to do no matter what difficulty your playing on. Whilst fighting Big Daddies you'll feel under pressure. Sadly, the pressure is not relieved easily. You'll find yourself running out of health and ammo very fast, and this can be frustrating. But soon enough you'll kill the daddy and you'll be able to deal with the Little Sister any way you choose.

When you get your Little Sister you have two choices. You can either save the sister, which gives you less atom but pays off in the end, or you can harvest her. Harvesting gives you a lot of atom very fast, but it is not recommended because in the long run you'll get more atom via saving. After saving a certain amount sisters, you'll have enough atom to spend on plasmids.

Plasmids are a sort of super power that your character gets. Ranging from everything like fire to a swarm of bees. Plasmids are very helpful during fights and sometime allow you to access areas by burning ice or electrifying a switch. Just like the guns, you can upgrade each Plasmid three times. You upgrade them by going to atom stations all around the game. You power your plasmids with eve. Eve is a way to restore your Plasmid meter, you can find them all over the game.

Along with Plasmids and guns, there are Tonics. Tonics are just sort of a little boost to help you from everything to hacking, to being fire resistant. You can find Tonics randomly, or you can purchase them at atom stations.

Hidden through Rapture there are tons of goodies. Like cigarettes, auto diaries, and much more. The auto diaries is what gives Bioshock quite a bit of replay ability. It is great fun to go around searching for diaries, and its even more fun listening to them.

During your entire Rapture adventure you'll have a blast from start to finish. And when you beat the game, you'll want to do it over and over again on harder difficulties. It is surprising to find a game that is fun every time you play through it, when it doesn't change anything at all. The combination of guns, plasmids, and tonics makes the combat enormously fun. Even though every now and then you'll feel overwhelmed, it is easily forgotten. Bioshock will never leave you disappointed and the ending will blow you away.

Positives:
+Amazing replay ability for a single player game.
+The combination of guns and plasmids makes the combat fun.
+The scenery is eerie and beautiful at the same time.

Negatives:
-You'll sometimes feel overwhelmed during fights.
-You'll find yourself scampering around for ammo and health packs in the worst times.

THE ELDER SCROLLS IV: OBLIVION:

You start off as a prisoner in the Imperial City jail. Right off the start you get to customize the look of your character, the race of your character, and even the gender. The customization for facial features is phenomenal. Trying to make two characters look alike would be truly impossible. After your done with your character the game picks right up. The Emperor of Cyridil comes to you, and recognizes you right off the bat. He's seen you in a dream and he explains that he needs you. Right away the game gives you a huge responsibility. As you make your way out of jail, you get your first glance at the amazing environment.

Oblivion has an enormous open world. There are over five different cities you can explore, and they are all filled with different races and shops. The variety of people to interact with in this game is incredible, and they all have amazingly unique voices. There are priests, soldiers, townsfolk, shop owners, and much much more. In each city there are a variety of four different guilds. The Dark Brotherhood is the assassination guild, the Fighters Guild is the guild that solves problems with force, the Mages Guild is the Magic based faction, and then there is the Thieves Guild, were you go around stealing historical objects. Each guild throws a lot of missions at you, and each has an amazing ending. In the end though, you end up being the leader of each guild.

After your done exploring the cities you can travel outside and see everything from snowy mountains, to bandit camps. Exploring all the locations in this game would be near impossible to do, not to mention that it would take hours to do. There are dungeons, caves, towns, and much more to explore. At almost every area there is a side mission to do, and with over one hundred different locations, that leaves over one hundred different side missions. At least enough to keep you playing until the next installment comes out.
