BioShock 2 Updated Quick Look on the PS3
We get a brief look at BioShock 2 running on the PlayStation 3, and it’s just as unsettling.
While we got a look at BioShock 2 just last week, we also had the chance to see the game running on the PlayStation 3 at a Sony press event. Although the game is set to ship at the same time on the Xbox 360, we hadn't seen much of the PS3 version, so we’re happy to report that, based on the look we just had, the game is looking sharp on Sony’s console.
What's New: We had the chance to get a look at the Ryan Amusements level on the PS3, our first proper glimpse of the game on the platform. The level is based around a creepy theme park within the underground city of Rapture that was created to ensure that children would be terrified of the world outside the would-be Utopia. The area is full of rundown animatronic displays that “teach” children the ills of the world outside of Rapture. Now that the city has fallen into disrepair, the locale also has the added bonus of murderous slicers on hand that are eager to kill you.
What's Different: The look of the game seems to be on par with the Xbox 360 game and boasts the various improvements and upgrades we’ve seen in that version of the game. The game’s color palette features some of the subtle differences that were on display in the original game. While we didn’t see any glaring changes in the game’s look, there was definitely a subtle difference in color usage and possibly even lighting. However, minor differences aside, the game is looking super-sharp on the PS3.
What's The Same: The game is maintaining the visual fidelity and atmosphere used to good effect in the X360 game. Rapture is still a really unsettling place, and that clearly came through in the PS3 game. Fans of the series should find themselves feeling strangely comfortable roaming through Rapture’s stressed halls.
What Impression The Game Made This Time: BioShock 2 makes a good, reassuring impression on the PS3. The game looks sharp, runs smoothly, and doesn’t appear to be suffering from a weak conversion between platforms. PS3 owners should be pleased once they see the game running on their platform. The game is slated to ship early next year.

Already pre-ordered this...Can't wait to get my hands on this and start playing...I'm playing the 1st one for the 3rd time to keep my memory fresh.
If anyone can tell me which game should i get bioshock 2 or should i get that game coming out in the coming months brink? Please respond with you comments.
I can't wait to play this game. I played the first game on the 360 and PC. I'm going to go PC over the PS3 on this title. I sold my 360 as the best games for it were also on the PC, and played that much better on one. The PS3 has better PS3 only titles, but I will always pick the PC version over any console when it comes to FPS or RPG games....
game looks sick can't wait to get it. What is really attracting to this game is the big daddy situation and the online multi-player. Looks better then the last game and i hope the story is longer then the first one. Personally i think this game will be best on the ps3 rather than the 360 and if you think otherwise then respond back to me. Don't get me wrong now it'll be great on both systems and the game play will be the same but the graphics and the controls will be the difference maker.
@santinegrete what does a Blu-ray lens have to do with a HDD where do they compare. I guess thee guy feels an install is more space being use on his HDD. It is not like those 360 HDD are cheap, its not like with the PS3 I can upgrade to a 500gb for like 80 dollars. Blu ray is a large media disc so no installs. Now I do not know about the lens taking a beating if they made the games accessible for blu ray and not just giving it a option for movies. So the I think lens will be ok. On topic I think this game is going to be great. I never played the 1st one so I have to get on that. Looks like 2010 will be a great year for gaming and for all the platforms 360 and PS3 people stop bickering. Sweet.....
GunGriffin: they came out with a patch to fix up the slowdown issues. it was shortly after release if i remember correctly. i had the same issue on my 2nd playthrough... patch came out... everything was smooth again.
I played the 360 version back when I had this game. It was great fun, but the constant slow downs drove me mad...... I did love the story and style of the game and was vary pleased to see they did not go overboard with the scare the crap outa you stuff like EA did with Dead Space......... I hope the PS3 version runs as good as Assassin's Creed 2 dose on the PS3, that game and quite a few others now not only run better, but have extra features as well. Star Ocean is hitting the PS3 with enhancements to the battle system, and new features, and fixes as well. Now that Final Fantasy 13 is going to prove that the PS3 has the hardware to run modern games, we also get Final Fantasy 13 versus to look forward too as well. I'm glad I bought a PS3 slim........ I look forward to this game as well. Plus Red Faction is ten times better on the PS3! Looks better, theres more effects detail, and the sound is leaps and bounds over the 360 version.
@ fatpumba3 The port of Bioshock 1 was better than the 360 counterpart. It looked better and had more stuff.
Looking good. I wanted to play Bioshock (ps3), it's cheap nowdays. I played the demo on my friend' 360 a year ago. But SH:HC scared me s---less. So i've been waving away from horror games for a while. Too bad! The kid in me is scared to death of the dark now. Damn you, SH:HC!
@ Gamer_4_Fun: I don't understand why you say that: it's just space in a Hard Drive, and some time before playing it. Also, if the installations are optional, why don't use them? It's easier to replace a HDD than the Blue Ray lens.
Sweet :) I just re-bought the first for PS3 to give it a whirl, maybe try for some trophies. I originally played it on my PC but decided I'd like to try it in console land.
If there is a mandatory install, i am not gonna get it. Why? Because just look at other even more awesome games on the PS3 which doesn't require installation like Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2.
Good that the PS3 version is all clear because the port of the first Bioshock was really quite poor.
