Now THIS is the kind of stuff i would want to see in Bioshock 2. No silly Soviets or Giant Squids.

Summary: You're a Big Daddy, and you get to use the drill and rivet gun. And you can use plasmids too. You can take little sisters from other Big Daddies and take them around Rapture to collect ADAM like you see happening in BioShock 1.

It's 10 years since the first game. The Big Sister returns to rapture, bringing back the Little Sisters with her. You play as the original Big Daddy. You can use the drill, the rivet gun, and you can still use plasmids.

Little Sisters have been given a new look to be less creepy, as you're seeing them from the eyes of their protectors. You don't get your own Little Sister from the start, as you're a renegade Big Daddy. So you fight other Big Daddies to get your own sister. You can still harvest them, but the other option has been changed to "adopt" instead of rescue. If you adopt the sister, she'll ride on your shoulders, and you can go around Rapture looking for corpses for her to collect ADAM from. When your sister goes to harvest ADAM, a wave of Splicers will come and start attacking to try and harvest her. You have to hold them off until she finishes harvesting. You gain some ADAM from this, but not enough to tide you through the game. You can permanently rescue them, but the article doesn't say how.

The Big Sister is one of the surviving little sisters from the last game. She's the new ruler of Rapture, and is the main antagonist of the game. With each Big Daddy you kill, the game lets you know how close you are to incurring the wrath of the Big Sister. When you do, the little sister you're with will sing a song about how the Big Sister doesn't want you playing with her, then you get jumped.

Other info: Vita Chambers return, there is confirmed multiplayer(no details), audio logs are back, and Fontaine Futuristics is a level in the game.

There are screenshots of the mag floating around now confirming this.

The Big Daddy drill takes the place of the wrench. Can spin, but overheats so you can't run it constantly. You can do the Big Daddy charging shoulder bash. You can heal your hacked turrets/camera bots. Incinerate upgrades let you throw fireballs and shoot a stream of fire. Cyclone trap can be hit with incinerate and become a flaming cyclone trap. Upgrade trees are more diverse to give you more unique options.

    You will soon. :-D

There are photos circulating someone took of two of the pages, including one that has a quote from the director Jordan Thomas "you don't just play as any big daddy in Bioshock 2. You play as the first one ever."

This is actually true. There is an image from the magazine floating around that says "You don't just play as a Big Daddy, you play as the first one."

Oh god I hope this is true and not the other crap, this sounds awesome.

Question ._. how could you play as the first big daddy if the game picks up seven years after the original?

I thought about this and realized, they don't say you play as the first Big Daddy back when he's first created--they say you just play as the first Big Daddy.

So it's still going to be years later and he's still alive.

Eh, even if it is true its still better than that other crap. Though how will you have any character development as a lumbering mute?
  • Mar 13, 2009 12:33 pm GMT
^I don't recall Jack developing as a character considering he never spoke other than one line in the beginning.

True, but you found out more about him throughout the game. Though I suppose the same will happen with the new guy.

if this is true, the only thing I don't like about it, is that You defend little sisters when they harvest and waves of splicers come and you gotta defeat them...?

Sorry but that kinda ruins the whole breathing living city to me cause it will all be scripted... like i wouldn't have a problem if it was a living breathing city still, but just alot more splicers walking around, and if they see the little sister they would attack her and the positions of splicers are not scripted, that i wouldn't mind so much. But to me it sounds to much like the horde idea from L4D when you trigger a certain event.

Secondly I hope they cant damage the little sister, and can only deal with her after they have killed you, cause in the first bioshock I absolutely hated the whole idea protecting the little sisters in that "training course".. when you were the big daddy.

P.S. And since your to be the first big daddy... maybe your the Big Daddy that was repairing the tunnel in Rapture when Jack first arrived?

seems pretty annoying still, but if its only a few bits in a prequel bit, im okay with it.

No one got any full high quality magazine scans yet?
  • Mar 13, 2009 1:25 pm GMT
That makes sense with the whole prequel and sequel thing. Hope we know more soon.

wait a minute. You cant have the little Sister getting rushed by splicers in the Prequel section. If this was the first ever Big daddy, I'd assume the citizens would still not be entirely spliced up, they'd just be mildly dosed on plasmids and Adam.

Hardly the manic splicers we saw in 1960's rapture.
