A perfectly executed remake that it has all positive and negative aspects I associate with the old-school platforming.
It's fun to play once you get the hang of it, the story is deliciously ridiculous and tongue-in-cheek, and there's a whole lot of content to find if you're the secret-hunting type.
On the flip side,I found the game slightly too hard for my tastes, especially the final level which I had to start over about a bazillion times. But that's also part of the vintage feel, I guess. Remember how you just kept dying at that difficult spot in Sonic the Hedgehog? Yeah, it's like that. Except the game actually saves between levels. Thank God.
So Bionic Commando is a perfectly executed remake in that it has all positive and negative aspects I associate with the old-school platforming genre. If that's your cup of tea, then it's definitely recommended. If not, well, there's still no reason not to pick this one up considering its low price.
