A classic game revised.

A long time ago, I had the opportunity to play the original Bionic Commando, which was pretty good at the time, but this topped my expectations of revising the Bionic Commando game into something much larger. It is a platformer that doesn't involve jumping; you make be asking yourself: how can this be a platformer without the function to jump? Well, that's where the bionic arm comes into play. The arm allows you grapple onto certain walls and platforms.

This XBLA game offers some of the best local multiplayer options from co-op to different types of deathmatch, which neither one existed in the original game. On top of this, the developer up-dated the graphics and it looks great in HD. The single player portion of the game incorporates a great difficulty curve. Besides the single player campaign, the game also offers challenge rooms that are addictive and fun to try to accomplish.

Yet, among all these great things comes some negative criticism. While I prefer to play games locally, the game doesn't offer XBL multiplayer options, which many people this generation will dislike; however, this isn't the worst issue. The main problem with this game, like the original, is the aiming of the grapple. It will take some time getting used to the right thumb placement on either the joystick or d-pad and, to a certain extent, one still may encounter problems every once in a while.
