A game that kept even an easily distracted gamer coming back for more.

Bionic Commando.

Nope, didn't ring a bell. All I knew was that my favourite singer (Mike Patton) was voicing the main character.
Meh, worth a shot I figured. And it definately was.
Heres a game that walks a very thin line between amazing and not quite there yet.

Bionic Commando is a thin string of pros and cons, but ultimately; the pros do outbalance the cons. Many would complain about the radiation restraining your movement, but whilst you are feeling restricted, you also get this feeling of "I could go anywhere". That feeling of pure freedom and power really shows, and the limitations of radiation, powerful enemies and flooded areas just help create moments of panic - something any game willing to keep the action going needs.

In Bionic Commando the action centres around your actions as a player. Rather than things coming your way constantly, you'll be the one coming to the things, so to speak.

One of the main complaints about this game is the fact that the protagonist, Nathan Spencer, is "completely unlikable". Players everywhere seem to have agreed on the need for you to be able to identify with the character you're playing. It needs to be a heroic "good guy". I totally disagree.
Playing an angry and arrogant character is a breath of fresh air when there is a lack of options at hand. I always did go for the evil characters in Roleplaying games. But Nathan isn't evil. Just.. mean ;)

I really liked this game, and I haven't been this hooked on any game on the pc for a long time. The fantastic sense of action, hilarious dialogue and ridiculously bad story make this a game I just love.
Worth a shot for anyone who likes action games.
