I'm surprised as I always felt they were not interested in shooters. Maybe is because is made in Japan? Character design looks better than Gears of Wars?

Shooters have been steadily gaining traction in Japan for a couple years now, and it's gotten to the point where MW3 can outsell Ni no Kuni. Blame it on a Western inferiority complex if you want.
There's even been one Japan-only FPS this generation I've been interested in playing: Gundam Operation Troy, a heavily modified Battlefield 2 with mecha. Sadly, the 360 is region locked, and so was the demo.
Also, unlike here, Sega made a huge effort to advertise the game in Japan.

That's too bad; I was mostly just interested in the idea of a Gundam FPS based on a Western engine. The game's multiplayer-only, too.

Trust me, gears of war is seriously famous in japan. It's a unique FPS. Japan likes games that are far from reality. Thats why they'd eat gears. Im assuming this is famous be ause it's made by the guy who created the yakuza games. In japan those yakuza games are the COD of japan(the mature game for young adults that's not an RPG).

I always wondered how a Gundam TPS would turn out...

The number one game in Japan is Armored Core V, right?
Can't wait for the American version in March!

Just tell Master Raiden you couldn't win the Mortal Kombat tournament 'cuz you were high. He'll understand.

Ohh wow... A dating game? Last I heard on another site AC5 was tearing up the sales charts, but I guess that was a week ago.

Among game developers, yes. Sakaguchi and several others have expressed their love for the game.
Among everyone else, it's practically unknown. Ultraviolent, meatheaded Western shooter that's exclusive to the 360? Definite formula for Japanese failure.

Well I think its selling well because it is made by the Yakuza team. Which is HUGE for Japan.
