IGN has their review up if anyone is interested in checking it out.

I'm gonna guess their score without even following the link: a 5/10?
Sheer IGNorance. The demo and word-of-mouth are the only reviews anyone needs.

It seemed positive, but then they just slam it for being derivative.
7.5
Yet will give Bioware and Activision a pass for releasing the exact same formula for a decade? Oh well.

There's a co-op survival mode comparable to Firefight or Horde.

Not a bad review and probably about the right verdict, can only give so many props for setting, story etc and cover shooters are getting abit derivative. IGN still sucks however, soon as a big company releases something dosent matter how samey BAM HIGH SCORE!
*cough* SWTOR *cough*

I am not sure what warrants the Bioware hate..since their formula has changed quite a bit over their last few games..unless you want them to make a game without choices and story.....
However this game looks very mediocre and it got a decent score...and in the end reviews don't matter all that much..its 6 and below that you have to worry about.

Save the Bioware white knighting for someone who cares.
Yes, would it be so hard for them to make one game that isn't Baulder's Gate with a new gimmick?
And your point isn't really countering my point, and is just more unneeded fanboy stroking for Bioware.

The only changes made to Bioware's "formula" have served to massively dumb it down.
I mean, god damn, look at Mass Effect 3's "Story Mode."

Not to sound like a Bioware hater, I actually liked their games up until I finished Sonic Chronicles and realized they were all almost the exact same thing.
But the shooting mechanics in ME3 are horrid. Especially Side-By-Side with Binary Domain.
But I bet it will get 9.5 from IGN from Name Value alone.
Binary Domain really should not of had as good of TPS-Cover mechanics as it does, seeing as the team behind it primarily makes Beat-Em Up Adventure RPG's.

And considering how awful the shooting mechanics in Yakuza Dead Souls are.
Nagoshi certainly did his homework for this game on how to design a TPS.

I'm pretty sure the entire goal of Yakuza: Dead Souls was for Yakuza team to learn how to make a TPS.
Though I still thought the Demo was really fun, but really sloppy.

Requiring a QTE to explode a gas tank after you've already shot it is unacceptable. I'm glad there's none of that in BD.

Yea, but it was clearly meant to reflect the QTE's during the HEAT attacks in the Core Yakuza's.
But lessons were learned!
Yet somehow Mass Effect 3 has worse shooting than 2. *shrug*

Well, with ME3 Bioware made a conscious decision to dumb the game down even further to appeal to lowest common denominators and people like Hamburger Helper who just want to rush through all the content, apathetic to difficulty and choice. You don't even have to touch the RPG elements if you don't want.

Now that you mentioned that, you are right. I did notice how they neutered the demo, or at least gave you the option to.

I wouldn't call myself a fan boy..when I look at Bioware I simply see the best story tellers in the video game business...because I sure as hell didn't buy Mass Effect for the TPS action...
But this type of hate always happens to good games, like the Grand Theft Auto's, Skyrim and Assassins Creed...And I hate to bust balls but this game is going nowhere..I mean it doesn't look all that bad, it looks mediocre..but they didn't take a single risk when making it, and it shows.
Look at Mass Effect and tell me that they didn't take a risk by making the game less Rpg and more action...I loved Me1..however many of the glaring issues were fixed in Me2, and overall I thought it was much better.
But alas..Binary Domain looks decent..middle of the road..riskless, and what we usually expect from Sega outside of Japan...maybe when the prices drop I will pick a copy up.

this review convinced me to get a game which i had little interest in.

Oh, please. They're sub-par and extremely awkward fanfiction writers.

It was number 2 in Japan, beating out the newest 3DS Final Fantasy (Yea, It was just Theaterhythm, but it still beat a Final Fantasy in Japan). So I hardly consider that nowhere.
And I don't see the big deal about Bioware's writing, it's pretty standard Sci-Fi/Fantasy stuff, with a VERY heavy-handed morality system thrown in.
For my money Bioware is leagues behind something like Bioshock or Portal.
