Big Bang Mini makes good use of the touch screen and has tons of variety and the game is very good except for one flaw..

User Rating: 9 | Big Bang Mini DS
Big Bang Mini makes use of the DSs 2 screens and touch screen in a very unique and fun way, and it's stuffed with so much content that it is well worth the $20 and a must buy for any looking for a fun great DS game.

Big Bang Mini let's you shoot at enemies on the top screen by simply flicking the stylish up and a shot will fire in that direction, and it works great. You simply touch the little pixl you are and can move it wherever you want by dragging it anywhere. The controls work great and it makes the game much more enjoyable.

But by far the best part of Big Bang Mini is its huge amount of variety. The main game consists of 9 worlds and in every single world, the difference is flat out huge. You will look different, the background and enemies will look different, the shots will look different. A mini challenge done at the end of every level will change from world to world. The music and sound effects will all change. And more importantly, the attacks you can use changes from world to world, meaning going from one to another will make it feel completely different, and will make the whole game refreshing and keep you coming back until you complete it.

The game is also very long. There are 9 different worlds and each world has 9 levels and a boss (except for the last world, which has 2 bosses) and each level takes about 5 minutes so that's about 9 hours right there.

And that's not all, after you beat the game there is a classic mode which is basically a level that goes on forever and you can post your scores online and view the all time high scores so it's a fun thing that online players will love.

Another mode featured in is Mission Mode, the mode offers lots of missions for you to complete that offers even more variety. You'll beat levels in a certain time, beat levels with a select amount of shots, and many other objectives. It will keep you occupied for a while with all it's missions after you complete the main game.

The downside of Big Bang Mini is the structure of the game and its difficulty. Starting with difficulty, the main game is a perfect difficulty, but Mission Mode is a whole nother story. The difficulty of the missions is very unbalanced, you'll play lots of easy missions, one hard one, then some easy ones again, then more hard ones, than normal difficulty ones, than back to easy, and it's just a real mess and really makes Mission Mode feel badly structured.

And that's the main problem with this whole game, it's structure. Even though Mission Mode has missions as easy as world 1/2/3 levels in the main game, you can not play mission mode until you complete the main game and cannot play challenge mode until you are halfway through the main game, and it can be real frustrating.

This means you'll be playing easy and real hard levels after you complete the main game which won't feel right. Why couldn't they let you unlock Mission Mode earlier so you can work on both instead of having to finish the main game to play mission mode? Which brings me to Mission Mode, even though there are TONS of missions, you HAVE to play them one at a time. That means if you get stuck on a real hard one, that's it. You can't skip it, you can't complete other missions and then go back, once you're stuck you're done, and it can be real frustrating, and this is my biggest complaint about the game.

The music and graphics are good. Sprites coupled with fluid animation and good sound effects and music feel right. The soundtrack is even open to download on the official site if anyone is interested, and it's good overall.

Overall, Big Bang Mini is a fun great game that uses the touch screen very well. The huge amount of variety will make the experience very enjoyable, and aside from a few flaws, it's one great game, and for only $20, it's well worth it.

Overall Score: 8.25 + Great use of touch screen (1.00) + Variety (0.50) - Difficulty (0.25) - Structure (0.50) = 9.00
