Those of you who want to be loyal to one platform, good for you, but I feel bad for you. I enjoy Halo, Gears of War, Fable, Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavy Rain, Uncharted, Mario Galaxy and Zelda. I used to be a PC Gamer, but I "quit". I got tired of having to upgrade my PC every year and a half, and seeing the kind of graphics 6 and 7 years old consoles are outputting these days, PC gaming should feel ashamed. I'd go even further and say we don't need another Xbox or Ps4 yet. Compare Halo 3 (2007) vs Halo 4 (2012), Gears of War 1 (2006) vs Judgment (2013) and MGS4 (2007) vs Ground Zeroes's Trailer (2013). Getting that out of the way, in this crappy video I can't see a big difference in graphics, but who cares, Heavy Rain had almost perfect graphics! They only need to improve character animation/movement.

Game director David Cage believes Beyond: Two Souls looks like a next gen game compared to his previous title, Heavy Rain. What do you think?
For me not that hell of a difference. but who can tell with this crappy comparison.
totally pixelated and the scenes they chose to compare are so different that it's hard to make it a fare deal. for example the fight scene. How can one compare are garden and a gym ? I don't get it. In the end I gonna play both games and I LOVE QUANTIC DREAM SINCE OMIKRON.
It's kind of hard to tell the difference between the two when the video is still pixelated even at 720p

There is still enough power in PS3. Sony just needs money, so they just came up with a powerful social machine
@beavisj PS3 and the XBOX360 are extremely outdated they should've gone to the next generation years ago.
Well PS3 and Heavy Rain looks better to me.. I know the faces were more stiff, but i liked the lighting and pallete better. Beyond seems to have a cartoonish look
@dabomb790 they said ps4 architecture is more dev friendly and mot dev are hppy :D
@dabomb790 Because PC gamers need better ports.
@dabomb790 because not everyone is Quantic Dream or Naughty Dog. Some developers dont know how to use ps3 to the max and end up giving us games with terrible graphics and dated gameplay.
The faces are dead. That's the problem. The Uncanny Valley. They look real, but not real enough. Something is off and it's off putting.
even though I did like HR it was the story that really did it , if I paid too much attention to the characters their faces are bland and the same with BTS , to me anyone could have played that little girl ... looks very close to being identical ?
The improvement in animations is what really stands out; but I'm sure it will look great when playing it. Next-gen looking it is not.
@Carpe_Noctum Next-gen looking it is my friend. Compare the visuals you see in Beyond: Two Souls with top of the line high-end PC graphics in character faces. The differences are virtually non-existent. The amount of detail and meticulous nuances in the characters faces here are very high quality. One see can see here that the PS3 is still able to produce very CGI-esque graphics. Very impressive. Didn't think the PS3 still had this kind of power. Obviously I was wrong.
I guess it's just me, but they both look about the same to me. I will say the faces look better in Beyond, but other than that I didn't see a huge distinction there. **shrugs**
Since Heavy Rain, developers have started to trade traditional AA for FXAA and using a deferred renderer. What this essentially means is that lighting is more accurate, there are more polygons on the screen and you also have more available memory for higher resolution textures.
Beyond is definitely a step up in terms of graphics. I loved HR, but the voice acting always sounded muffled--did anyone else notice that? I really hope they do a better job with the sound in Two Souls.
beyond has better graphics, just compare jason to the girl... the facial animations and textures are far better... the environments are still not that great compared to other games but the lightning and shadows are also better compared to HR... i look forward to see the final game, maybe they will tweak the graphics til then...
Beyond is obviously vastly better.
Chara modelisation, chara details, lighting, shadows, textures.
I mean it's very obvious, I'm worried to see some people think the difference is slim...
@Slash_out It's probably because the comparison isn't that great. The scenes are very different from each other, one being bright and the other dim.
I'd say Beyond. Don't get me wrong, Heavy Rain looks good (or maybe I'm just biased because HR's voice acting is awful) but Beyond looks REAL. When the vid started I wasn't sure I was watching a game or a commercial lol
I hate when i have to buy a console to play one or two games. Making games just for one console is stupid. And please Gamespot, enough with the bad quality videos. Showing graphics comparisons like this is just dumb, i thinks its time to go 1080p. Its 2013 after all
@mddma Everyone knows that exclusives are the reason for owning a Sony console. If you chose not to own a PS3, you knew you were going to miss out on some awesome exclusives anyway.
Heavy Rain is not running even in 720p on PS3...why would this video be 1080?
@mddma one or two? excuse me
I have to agree... Heavy Rain still looks great, but Beyond does look like a significant leap forward graphically. No doubt they're squeezing every last bit of power out of the PS3.
Jesus Gamespot, i loath your video player, why put subhd feed, it's always blurry, even when changing to 720p, it's still crappy. Ign's automatically switches to hd, and you can tell. For example beyond in this video looks like a ps2 game, it's so pixelated.
I do not think its fair to compare the two games. They are both very long and huge projects and have taken a lot of time to make, what I mean is, technology improves and they are better ways of making 3d graphics and better techniques. Also, Its a stretch to say it looks like its running on a fresh system. I'll say this, I am pretty sure both games will be amazing, and I am also sure that Beyond would be much better put on hold to be released on the PS4, why the PS3?
@2w-sephiroth I agree with most of that, but - they're two games from the same genre, running on the same system, made by the same developer, with the same person at the helm. If it's not fair to compare these, when is it fair?
I think Beyond: Two Souls look slightly better than heavy rain but both are pretty far from next gen
@sam441 How do you even know what next gen will look like? Those videos at the Sony conference were mastered videos to try and sell the PS4, if they make any actual game play, as opposed to cut scenes, like those videos, especially out of the gate at launch I will be so shocked I doubt I would live to see next year.
The environments looked better in Beyond. Seems like Heavy Rain used a lot of depth of field to cover up the not so great looking backgrounds.
It definitely looks significantly better, in fact Beyond may be one of the best looking games I've ever seen... however, to say it looks like it's running on new hardware is a bit of a stretch. To me, it becomes pretty apperent it's the same hardware as soon as you see the aliasing/flickering in the background.
