Best Story

A good story can move you to tears. It can make you think. It can stay with you long after you've finished the game. In other words, while the gameplay may be what first draws you into a game, it's the story that so often keeps you invested. But a story isn't just about what happens between the beginning and the end; it's also about the delivery. Great dialogue delivered by great characters, the twists and turns of a winding plot, and the thrill of extraordinary circumstances can make a great story wriggle under your skin and keep you thinking about it even when you aren't playing. This year's greatest stories took us across the world, through fantastical realms, and into the past, but one compelling tale stood above the others.

    WTF???? gosh... I really liked Cryostasis... but Dragon Age deserves this award...! his story is so awesome and deep also they leave A LOT of others stories to develop... seriously mate i dont know wtf are you thinking...

    OMG, How the hell a shooter end up winning the best story???I´ve read about the story of Cryotasis, but it is never as good as DO!!!DO let you do the story, you are filled of choices and surrounded by deep characters, it was a really deep game. For me, this was Gamespot EPIC FAIL.

    OMG, should of been Dragon Age. What a bunch of morons, I thin GS hires the left overs no one else Hires out of college. My use to be such a good site for info, now its just Advertising, outdated info, over hyped games, and suck arse revies(That are usually way off). Thank god thier are player reviews that are honest and more indept. Shame shame on you GS.

    Yes...Cryostasis is certainly one of those gems that was extremely good but nobody played....I have had the privilege to play it myself. The lost tribe in the forest is certainly a very good parallel to the problems of Alexandr Vesterov and the atmosphere in the game also is very well made. Though my twitch gamer friends don`t like it.....You just have to have the right expectations when coming in....This is no Resident Evil 4 in the Arctic!!Ha ha ha.

    I have played mw2, dao, ac2 and cryostasis. i agree with GS's decision.
    mw2 shudnt win cuz it has no meat in the story. u can summarize it in 3 sentences.
    dao on the other hand has a looong story but nothing really groundbreaking. the backstory of the world is very well developed but the story that u play through is actually pretty simple. (looking forward to the sequel)
    cryostasis has got a gr8 story though it is slow to play. i had to try the game 3 times before i cud finish it. i got bored halfway through the first 2 times.
    but then this category isnt about how exciting the gameplay is.
    i think GS got guts picking a game that only got 3% of the votes. they r not supposed to pick wichevr got the highest votes - cuz that mostly shows which games ppl played most.

    its sad cause i never heard of this game but otherwise im at a loss at who i would choose for best story. dragon age is cool but feels like it has too much goin on. modern warfare 2 story i enjoyed but a bit hazy on details. and assassin's creed 2 is a huge improvement over last game but i cant help to feel that im batman except i kill and have no grappling hook.

    @ BlindObj3ct: Yeah that's true, I can understand why you'd think I wanted DAO to win. But the thing is I've played those other games... Well, all but one. But I have palyed the one that won. I wouldnt have posted anything If I hadnt played it, because then of course I wouldnt know what I was talking about. But I have played these games and have have found DAO's stroyline to be quite a bit more superior then all of these, except for Cryostasis. I just wanted DAO to at least get a nomination, because to me that was storytelling at its finest.

    People think this game doesn't deserve this award because they didn't play it. They played the rather popular Dragon's Age or MW2 and were easily submitted into it's generic/predictable story, which isn't much compared to this game. Play this game fully, then judge the game, and then judge GS's opinion.

    Somehow I bet you didn't even play Cryostasis. If you did play it, then how could you possibly think AC2 had a better story?
