Most Improved Sequel

It's the job of practically any sequel to improve on its predecessor, but some sequels actually fail to live up to the standards of the original games, let alone enhance them in any way. Yet in 2009, we saw a number of follow-ups that enriched old mechanics while introducing fresh ones, making for new adventures that surpassed the old. While our nominees surpassed the games that came before them, only one of them soared high enough to be called this year's most improved sequel.

Easy, AC scored a 9, KZ scored a 6 I believe. KZ2 scored a 9, AC2 scored a 9. No change vs. an increase of three? I think it's pretty cut and dry which game was most improved this year.

AC2 all the way the first game sucked but the second game is god

    What..? o_O

Killzone 1 wasn't much different than the second game... The main reason why it sucked was because it was clunky and unpolished, not because the sequel managed to do something amazingly different. Gameplay wise it hardly changed at all. Mostly they just polished up the mechnaics and added a cover system. Otherwise, they're both extremely similar games.

My vote would be for Assassin's Creed 2. The original game, while fun, was extremely shallow, repetitive and lacking in just about every aspect. Assassin's Creed 1 was like someone came up with a concept and forgot to put some gameplay into it. The sequel game managed to drastically change that and improve everything about 10 fold.

Definitely AC2 for modifications and improvements such as the economy system, the side quest palette (I just fell in love with the assassination contracts), the weapon selection and the combat system (like taunting and disarming)

I would say Uncharted but the first one was great too, so Killzone 2 deserve to win to me because it really improves a lot over killlzone

i would have gone Creed II here. just because you can't really compare KZ 1&2 due to different consoles.

Creed II was a massive step forward on the SAME console.

Like both, but Creed would have gotten my vote.

Assassins Creed II does not deserve this award. It's almost guaranteed that it will win the readers choice, ACI was already very good and ACII didn't improve upon it too much, though it was better.

Yeah guys, bare in mind that this award is not for the best sequel, it is for the MOST IMPROVED sequel so yes, Assassins Creed 2 was a damn fine game, whether it is better than KZ2 is besides the point but the reason KZ2 won this award is because the original Kill Zone was VERY average. It was a total disappointment where as KZ2 is very good. Assassins Creed 1 was undeniably a fantastic game, the second one is slightly better but there really wasn't much room for improvement. So yes, Kill Zone 2 is the deserving winner for this catagory.

I think it should have been ACII, but then again, I've never played a Killzone game.

I would also pick Killzone 2 as the first one was terrible. AC 2 is better than AC1 one but the gap between the Killzones is bigger.

Yeah, Killzone 2 was a shoe-in. Killzone 1 was comparable to a smelly dog turd that got stepped in and needed to be scrapped off your shoes.

What gets me is how A Crack in Time got nominated. Tools of Destruction and Quest for Booty were both fine games. Certainly nothing in them to warrant implying that they needed to be improved so vastly that the sequel deserves an award. Same for... Crap, just about every other game on that list except for Killzone 2 and Assassin's Creed 2.

Obviously Killzone 2. The first one sucked balls, the second one was really good. Although ACII was a HUGE improvement aswell.

once again all the 360 fanboys vote for AC2, just so KZ2 wont win. do u guys knw wat most improved means?

Got these off of Game rankings
    Assassins Creed- 82.14%
    Assassins Creed II- 91.40%

    Killzone - 73.64%
    Killzone 2- 90.38%

While Assassin's Creed II might have been better (I haven't played it), it goes for most improved sequel. I heard Assassin's Creed was a good game. Killzone didn't reach that. There were so many issues with it, such as it's jaggy framerate in multiplayer mode, online lag, and other elemenst that it barely qualified as fun. Going from a mess to a must play game is what matters. I knew when this came out in march this would be the most improved sequel of the year!

Are you kidding me? Assassin's Creed 2 didn't win? It progressed from redundant pile of crap, to the best game I have ever played.

This Award is about the most IMPROVED sequel, not the best one, U2 would win if that was the case, but people don't realise that AC1 was better than Killzone 1, and Killzone 2 is kinda better than AC2, at least for me.

Um ac2 or uncharted2?! well maybe kz2 is good but i just dont have a thing for fps'.

Deserved it the most since it is such a huge leap forward from the original. AC2 looked great, but its original was not as bad as killzone's original.
