Special Achievement

Best Cooperative Multiplayer

Games tend to be more fun when you play them with other people, but when you're not feeling the competitive vibe, nothing beats teaming up with a buddy to accomplish your in-game goals. Whether it's shooting aliens, shooting zombies, or taking down extra-large bosses, there's no better way to bond with friends than to play a cooperative game together. A single-player campaign has only so much to offer and can be much more rewarding when you can grab a friend or two. This category features the best cooperative games this year--games that are so good that we'll continue to play them into next year.

Borderlands isn't getting the recognition it deserves in any of the lists so far. It's easily in my top 3 games of the year, and already a top 5 overall for me personally.

New Super Mario Bros. is not winning, because only the Nintendo and Mario lovers are surprised with the best cooperative multiplayer on the history of Nintendo.

Please, L4D2 is still limited replay game while Borderlands has nearly unlimited replay value. GS, can you think for yourself?

    @ Geo1676,

Meh, NSMB Wii is too chaotic to be that great, really. 2 players is OK, 4 players is just stupid.

wow...they just choose the most hyped game with the certain category...i mean i like L4D2, but it is the same thing as last year, it doesnt add much to the co-op, and the world isnt big...

Borderlands has 4 player co-op with 4 characters that actually have different abilities, so you can use them to make a team, l4d2 is just everyone has the same pros/cons...Borderlands really deserves it...im not jsut a fanboy trying to promote it...it really does deserve it,

at least they didnt pick Halo

I don't know, I think Demon's Souls or New Super Mario Bros. Wii should have gotten this one.

I knew L4D2 would win this, but I thought New Super Mario Bros. Wii was better suit for this than L4D2. Both are obviously developed primarily for co-op play, but I actually prefer NSMBW because it offers both co-op AND competitive play.

New Super Mario Bros not even nominated makes this list a joke.

I enjoyed Uncharted 2's cooperative multiplayer more than its competitive, but it appears to only have been nominated for competitive. I also thought Modern Warfare 2's co-op was well done, but that wasn't nominated either. How Ghostbusters or even Splosion Man beat those out is beyond me.

Ehh it was expected. L4D is made for co-op anyways. Plus overrated game, you can only play it so much until you get bored. Maybe it's just me but I don't find L4d that fun. Wasted 50$ on the 1st ;(
