Special Achievement

GameSpot's special achievements awards cover a swath of categories meant to acknowledge those games that deserve recognition for excelling in specific areas that may otherwise go unnoticed with the incredible number of great games released in 2009. There's plenty of competition across all categories, ranging from those that honor technical and artistic excellence in graphics to those that recognize the best stories and the best downloadable content. As someone famous once said, "There can be only one," but to even be nominated in these competitive categories is itself an award.

Wow... someone has a bad case of nerd rage...
it does NOT matter who won....
it was voted on.. and the most votes won...
    simple as that...

The reason why MW2 didnt win the best competitive multiplayer mode was due to the horrendous PC version and since it was a multiplaformer, dragged it down in the running for awards.

best graphics: u forgot Dragon Age!!; Best Sound: why didnt u add DOW2!!??
best dialog: I think Dragon Age had the best game dialogue in 2009... but the best dialogue in all games was in Legacy of Kain

I'm so happy for Guerilla games. They were sort of an underdog this gen, who had to prove themselves to all the doubters... and they delivered bigtime. ND did an awsome job too... as expected

And demon's souls... wow, what a sleeper hit!

Well this just goes to show that gamespot has become A GUN FOR HIGHER I have lost alot of respect for this company if it weren't for the final choices for the categorys being a somewhat legit game the games in the categories where not up to par for being in THE BEST OF 2009.

the current gamespot staff really lacks consistency in its reviews when compared to other official game sites as a whole. when compared to the juggernaut review staff of the greg kasavin and jeff gertschman period, the crew really lack the credibilty and reputation that greg and jeff had garnered from their fans. the year end review above is all over the place, kinda bi-polar. lame. i used to look forward to gamespot's year end recap. but it has turned into a throw-away countdown. i miss the gamespot of old.

Weird...Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 was running for Worst Use of a Great License and Best Use of a Creative License...Agree Assassin Creed 2 has one of the best stories :\ (Tho I sorta disagree with Demons Soul winning some stuff I didn't like it so much very annoying dieing and having to restart whole lvl with mobs and lose your souls >.>)

This is the first year that I pretty much don't agree with ANY of these. I could spend all day talking about games that should have won...

WHAT? Assassin`s Creed 2 didn`t win "Best Story"? Incredible historic and cultural research mixed with twisted and almost scary fiction. Nonsense.

    Well, i haven“t play Cryostasis.
