Editorial Nominees
We're lucky at GameSpot: we've got someone with a fair bit of expertise when it comes to technical matters, so those of us who don't know our antialiasing from our anisotropic filtering have someone to turn to in times of crisis. After all, lots of modern games look fantastic, so when it comes to deciding which games look most stunning, we must get into the nitty-gritty. We got up close and personal with textures and bump maps. We were mindful of the tricks developers use to fool us, like lens flare and motion blur. GameSpot editors gathered around multiple screens and talked about animations, tessellation, post-processing, and matters that go beyond "hey, this game looks pretty!" Performance, platform, and many other factors were considered before we decided which game blew us away with its sheer visual prowess. But hey, if you want to show off what your system can do, any of these games could serve as a graphical showcase. So invite your friends over and gloat already!
