About the Awards
GameSpot's Best of 2010 awards cover special achievements in the field of advancements for games, dubious honors for less-than-admirable qualities, and full awards for individual genres and every major platform. Nominations and awards are the result of rigorous debate among GameSpot's editors, who select up to five finalists and one winner for almost every category (the Game of the Year category includes up to 10 finalists). To qualify for an editorial award, games must have been reviewed by GameSpot between January 1, 2010, and November 30, 2010.
Award categories are intended to call out those games that truly deserve the attention--therefore, while each award is meaningful, it's considered an honor simply to be nominated.
Best Driving Game
Driving games come in so many different shapes and sizes that it's not always easy to pit them against each other. But someone once said that nothing worth doing is easy, and so with our Best Driving award we honor the best that this expansive genre had to offer in 2010.

Readers' Choice Voting
The next installment of the award-winning racing franchise, Gran Turismo 5, is coming exclusively to the PlayStation 3 system. Known for its signature beauty and precision, the highly anticipated racer will showcase new jaw-dropping cars, real-life tracks, and diverse racing styles. Gran Turismo promises to deliver exciting advancements to the series in the most comprehensive racing experience ever.
whatever GT5 bad points it has, but it is the winner not NFS:HP this is for me and plz no one pln me.
It doesn't make any sense to mix arcade style racing games with simulation driving. I prefer by far GT5 to NFS:HP. There well always be controversy over the different styles of racing games. How can you compare two games when you are rewarded for crashing into each other in the first and not crashing into each other in the second ?
I guess if you absolutely have to lump arcade racers with simulation racers, I could see where you might land at this result. GT5 is about driving and being serious, NFS is about crashing and being ridiculous. Both games have their place, but they are not really in competition with one another. To me, that's akin to lumping Tom Hanks' performance in Toy Story 3 in with Natalie Portman's Black Swan... just silly.
Hahahaha the last credibility gamespot had with me just went down the drain Need for speed game of the year? Seriously its a 5 year old kid whos to stupid to realise you have to brake or have any skill what so ever game!!! I hate it and most mature people i know look at this as the boy version of mario kart. But frankly this stuff is everywhere the worst music/movies/games/books get awards and recognition. I hate this stupid mass driven world and its lack to recognise quality!!! FUk ALL of U
maybe its the best arcade style driving game. As far as simulation type for me GT5 is the one to go with. This award should have 2 parts(arcade-simulation). For me gt5 should won but thats my personal preference.
need for speed hot pursuit is better than forza and gran turismo.the only game better than nfs hot pursuit is burnout.
Big fan of GT but Forza was better this year.. F1 was overlooked and is a great game. 1) Forza 3 2) F1 3) GT (still good, just not as good as the other two) then hot pursuit is the best of the more arcade type gimmick racers or cart games.
@Giga_Surfer ru kidin nfs ruled the games this year if u wanna talk about a boring game then insult gt5 a game where you race around a ring 4 24h is boring not a game filled with awesomeness
NFSHP is awesome and ive only had it for a day as soon as i played just 5 mins of it i knew this kind of game will win something
Are you kidding me..O__O, I bought NFSHP played 20 mins, got bored and never touch it again, the game is bloody boring, its just the same boring thing over and over, run smash run smash run smash, Gamespot gone mad. Even Blur is better then NFSHP, this is a biased award.
there is no way gt5 is better than nfs hot pursuit a game where 4/5 of the cars are ps2 graphics and has boring races cant compare to a game where u could crash at any second. the thrill of a pursuit kicks gt5 into the trash.
NFS HP2010 Sucks! 2/10 When I turn my wheel I want the car to turn. Not hesitate for 3secs and then turn. Steering sucks, its repetitive, THE most arcade like crap I've ever tried and very boring. I expected alot more of it. only reason I'm giving it 2 is because of video/audio. Else it deserved 0! GT5 Deserved to win. 9/10 I bought a PS3 just to get that game and dont regret it. It has minor flaws that annoys me, but overall by far the best driving game of 2010.
I have a Need for Gran Turismo: Simulation Pursuit. Take the silly arcade driving and special weapons of NFS and replace them with more realistic physics and handling, and you'll have a real winner.
Looks like EA paid them off again! lol That game is so arcade and repetitive it's a bore! Having to drift around corners...Even in Police cars Bah! To me Critterion ruined it with Over-Arcadyness. Should have just made a Underground Revisited... DIRT-2 was 100% better than Hot Pursuit! I still play DIRT-2 and Hot Pursuit is a Coffee cup coaster. It was a waste of money! Lets see next year what happens when Test Drive Unlimited 2 and DIRT-3 arrive. The Evil Empire will probably throw some benjamin's to sway the votes to Shift 2.
Can't really argue with that :D It is a great game - in fact I liked all the games in the category and apart from Blur would have been happy to see any of them win!
