About the Awards

GameSpot's Best of 2010 awards cover special achievements in the field of advancements for games, dubious honors for less-than-admirable qualities, and full awards for individual genres and every major platform. Nominations and awards are the result of rigorous debate among GameSpot's editors, who select up to five finalists and one winner for almost every category (the Game of the Year category includes up to 10 finalists). To qualify for an editorial award, games must have been reviewed by GameSpot between January 1, 2010, and November 30, 2010.

Award categories are intended to call out those games that truly deserve the attention--therefore, while each award is meaningful, it's considered an honor simply to be nominated.

Best Action/Adventure Game

An action adventure game is the ultimate balancing act. It's the type of game that lets you make bad guys feel a world of pain. But do you put the whole thing against the backdrop of a deep story, or make it a lighthearted romp where all you do is blow things up? Creating this kind of balance, while also developing an outstanding game, isn't an easy thing to do, so we've gathered the best action adventure games of the year for this award.

    Red Dead Redemption sucked hard, no way it should win any award outside of worst game of the year. Reviewers get paid to boost it and the sheep follow. That game was boring, period. The graphics are dated, etc...

    @XCNormX
    thanks for pointing out my mistake. With ME2 being pretty linear and having one playable character i sometimes get confused lol

    @ash162 If Mass Effect 2 were an Action Adventure it probably would have got this award aswell...yeah go figure right -_- but Mass Effect is an Action RPG. Well deserved RDR, but if AC:Brotherhood had come out earlier in the year it might have taking this award.
