Platform Awards

2009 has seen multiple game releases on multiple platforms, so there has been no shortage of great games for everyone to enjoy regardless of which platform they own. GameSpot's platform awards honor those games that stand out on the platform regardless of their exclusivity to that platform. Provided it's identical across platforms, a great game is a great game. Still, the few console-exclusives we had this year made for some interesting debates when met with competition from excellent multiplatform games.

Most of these games are multiplatform and not exclusive to the respective platform. How can the awards be justified when a game like Modern Warfare 2 is on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Once again I get the feeling that GameSpot really didn't put much thought into the awards and nominations.

I just don't get the love Gamespot (and most of the gaming community, for that matter) gives to GTA. The games have all been the same since the days of the PS2, and I don't really get the appeal of a story centered on drugs, crime, gangs, etc. Every game that competed against Chinatown Wars on both the PSP and DS here was way better than any GTA could ever be, imo...

Oh well, that's just my opinion, and it looks like GTA won't go away anytime soon. Good for the fans, I guess.

You know what a game means, it means fun, not obsession to cheat and abuse of lag online and do not get outside of your house just to stay and "play" online (Like MW and others). Don't get me wrong, I know how for ex. MW is because I have the game, but true games put a smile on your face, not madness because you lost some points online. In my oppinion NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. WII should have been, everybody enjoys it, it may dissapoint the hardcore fans a little but it's still what we wanted. (I like Uncharted 2 also, but the game is so liniar and restrictive, I've finished it, it was cool but I think what makes a game more than just it is supposed to, it's free run style, like in Assasin's Creed and Batman AA, 2 games which I completed in 3 and 2 days respective, and not because they're short, they're very big, and a lot longer than MW and Uncharted I'm sure, but these 2 games aren't split into boring chapters and the dye in 3 shots system.) I hope you got my point.

As a PC/PS3/DS/Wii owner, i'm glad to say I never bought a X-box360, just look at this poll of best game ! The 360 only has ONE 360 exclusive game in the poll, every other can be played on other console, that is just pathetic seeing every other console having atleast 2-3 exclusive title..

psp and ds had at least 2 games that deserved the award more than gta chinatown wars. I mean come on! its the same damn thing but with little tweaks. Mario and Luigi for ds, Dissidia for psp. For god's sake Gamespot pick the right damn game once in awhile.

PS2 ? they still make those? Wii, PSP and DS for the kiddies. Im a PS3 and 360 user , good thing since both put out some awesome exclusives and both had a good year . PS3 better year for the consumer by offering free internet, dropped price, and of course the blu ray.

PC winner was expected and a good choice
Xbox Winner was expected and a good choice
PS3 winner was not expected and a good choice
Wii winner was expected but not a good choice. Mario should have won that flat out.

I'm a Playstation fan, but I have to admit the Xbox 360 had a really great year. I played Left 4 Dead and went gaga over it I want to try Dragon Age, though. I have the fever for an epic rpg and vacation is running out fast
