Genre Awards

The 2009 awards break down the top games of the year into categories based on genre. As games grow increasingly diverse and inventive and incorporate multiple facets of various genres, it becomes harder and harder to assign them to a single category, but we've done so here to the best of our ability. Therefore, our awards represent the best game in the genre, and not the game that best represents the genre it's categorized as.

    2:best graphics technical
    3:best shooter
    4:best sound design
    5:most improved sequel
    6:game of the year

    I'm sorry imma let u finish but NHL 10 was the best sports game of the year...Spike Tv Video Game Awards had the best pick for every game....no biast picks and they let the Fans choose not sum biast pig..........this really pissed me off watching it

    Lmao. Soul Calibur IV, the best fighter by a long shot, not only wasn't even voted into the list of nominees, Street Fighter IV, a game purely unchanged from its 1980 origins, won the top seat! Man, bias sure can pull strings can't it? Incredible...

    killzone came out before cod 4 so dont try and say they ripped them off.
    personaly i think killzone deserves the award.
    killzone has an epic story and probably the best 1st person shooter campaign ive ever played.
    the cover system works great and the a.i. is challenging even on normal. plus they managed to throw some boss battles in which are rare in shooters.
    mw2 is probabably the best MULTIPLAYER shooter of all time next to cod 4 but multiplayer is not the only thing to look for in a game which many have seem to forgoten.

    All killzone 2 is, is a rip off of COD MW and has longer campaign. MW 2 inspite of being short is better than so many long campaign shooters.
