These days, you can get all the information you want for any game using the awesome power of the Internet, but back before former Vice President Al Gore invented the information superhighway, you could get game information only from printed magazines or by word of mouth. And when you didn't have either, you'd walk into a game store and would have to judge a game by its cover. Unfortunately for the games in this category, their box covers don't speak well for them. Here are the games with some of the worst box art of the year.

Guitar Hero 5 has the worst cover.They should add guitars in it since the game is guitar
I think a more simple cover is always better, the original box art of the conduit was cool, black background and the ase simbol
Cover art is SOO important I'm glad gamespot chose to recognize the ones who did the worst job on their game. the guitar hero one is just so bad and unimaginative. The conduit is cheesy and a big turnoff. Now im a big DS: Extraction fan but the cover just aint that great. Now I've played through the game and I cant remember the female character(lexine) ever holding that gun, but whatever. Now Gamespot needs to reward the game with the best cover art.
I don't know why so many didn't like Extraction's box-art. I feel it portrays a great sense of urgency.
These are all so terrible! :) I actually minded Conduit's box art the least, though. Sure it was cheesy, but it beat the Protector (which made me laugh out loud--"Failure Is Not an Option!") and Guitar Hero 5, which was so lame and boring and showed such a lack of effort that it sends out really negative things about the game. I could go on for hours about how bad all these covers are, but I'll stop. "Nice" choices, Gamestop. :D
Lol , I completely agree with this reward. The boxart proves to be repulsive rather than appealing to the human eyes.
I didn't even realize that was box art when I saw Guitar Hero 5s boxart. If not for the XBOX Strip along the top, I'd think it was the credit reel to some indie flick. UGH! It should have wont this.

The box art actually serves its purpose -- more often than not -- it'll show many, many things about the game: quality, value, idea(s), tradition.... it shouldn't be mocked & it SHOULD most definitely be left alone; IMHO. xd
dude, its a good award, most of friends are ignorant and they base their opinion on what they're watching on the box art, so its clearly important. And by the way, guitar hero 5 doesn't require a good presentation, everyone know what gh5 is backwards the box has the most important thing, the songs
I thought the GH5 box art was pathetic, they didn't even make an attempt to have art on the box.
.....wot? rly? ...being a grafic designer myself the counduicts arwork its a style that may be out of date vut im pretty sure thats wot they were goin 4 and it has some time and work into it so idont considere it ugly...just with a unlikeable style...and at least its not as lazy as the one on gh or the protector. I DISAGREE
it should have been dead space for the fact, conduit was crap, nobody was going to buy the game, but the cover art of deadspace actually negatively affected a good game

omg look at guitar hero 5 o.o it only has guitar hero 5 and the musics and at conduct at least theres a guy with a gun
why DIRT2 is not on the list? the cover sucked so hard , it hardly represents a rally racing game.
Why do people hate on The Conduit's boxart so much? It's colorful and detailed, which you really can't say about GH5. Sure, it may be a bit cheesy, but not as cheesy as the boxart for Jonathan Kane: The Protector. I mean, it says "Failure is not an option!" on it. Granted, I own the collector's edition of The Conduit with the ASE boxart, so I don't have to deal with it - but still.
I'd say Gamespot got this wrong no doubt. The worst (in this order) imo is, Guitar Hero 5, than The Protector, X-Blades, and the last two are a toss up because I don't actually think they look bad.
i thought GH5 was going to win this i mean when i see the box i thought it was just an add on and not the real game.
The Conduit looks just like the Dead Space cover except reversed and a girl is holding the gun instead.
Obvious trollling, is obvious... Can they see how bad guitar hero 5 and the protector look like?
