Best Downloadable Content

Downloadable content has come a long way since Oblivion's $3 horse armor. It continues to significantly extend the active life of many of our favorite games by adding new weapons, music, characters, levels, and stories to existing experiences that had, by their inherent quality, left us wanting more. Publishers are still in the process of figuring out a fair price-to-content ratio under this new distribution scheme--and certainly not all downloadable content is fairly priced or of high quality--but the most equitable (as cheap as free!) and downright entertaining downloadable add-ons are already fully deserving of recognition.

I'm one of the few that hated Burnout Paradise - it was changed far too much from the original 1st, 2nd and even 3rd instalment I loved so much..... Revenge was OK and Dominator on the PSP was OK too, but still - my favourite was Burnout 2.

Burnout Paradise definitly deserved it. Rock Band, Guitar hero, etc etc are all so lame and boring. How can people not get tired of it?

The reader's choice here is proof that the golden age of gaming has passed. The only good options are TF2 and paradise.

I would've voted for anything other than Rock Band just to spite them. I feel so stupid buying RB2, DLC sucks so far. I'm dumb.

TF2 definitely should've taken this one...Rock band is all hype

Well, at least the editors picked the right one.

Apparently a free download with motorcycles, a motorcycle single-player mode, and, if I recall, 80 new events aren't enough to sway you people. Being able to download the only three overpriced tracks you like is phenomenal though.

Why is everybody hyping stupid Rock Band so much? Valve gave us TONS of free content for TF2 and you can't appreciate that. The awards turned out to be complete bs once again.

It's cool for Criterion Games for supporting this game consistently!

Thank you editors for giving the award to the right one, and the really awesome thing is that even with that content it got the award, but we still got Big surf island, cops, and all the extra cars still to come out!

Burnout deserved this. Quality content, and easy on the wallet, unlike Rock Band.

Burnout Paradise is the obvious winner to me, mostly because Criterion have CONSISTENTLY provided game-changing content FOR FREE. You have to pay for new music in Rock Band/GHWT, and the Gamespot summary pretty much, well, sums it up: "It's too bad Criterion decided to gouge consumers for this great content. If you were to purchase all of the previously mentioned updates, you'd be out a whopping zero dollars! That's approximately zero Microsoft points! Seriously, we paid full price for this game and then they want to force a bunch of awesome new stuff on us for free?! Oh wait, never mind. We like free stuff." And, even when they are giving us Premium Content (such as BTTF and Knightrider cars), they STILL give us free content, fixes support! Usually games just get a map pack, some skins and then just give up, but not Criterion. Meanwhile Rock Band actually uses a COMPUTER to calculate the notes (wtih minor real life tweaking) and they get us to PAY for it!

Sorry, but Rock band music is way over priced and it doesn't deserve votes at all

A shame bethesda is only releasing the dlcs for fallout this year... but they will probably win this category anyway next year xD

burnout had tons of free things to download so i can see why the game won.

OLOL_ENJAY

Wow. I like how the fact that TF2 pretty much tripled the content in the game for free, including adding like 15 maps over the course of a half a year, yet everybody is freaking out about Rock Band.

Rayze78

I completely agree with this award. Adding tons of content and all for free? You cant beat that.

rock band 2 should have been in there because now it has over 500 songs waiting to be downloaded.

Getting one song for Rock Band: $1.99 Getting a track pack (3 songs) for Rock Band: $5.49 Getting a bunch of new stuff for Burnout Paradise: PRICELESS

With the many tracks for RB2 DLC and having it backwards compatible with the original Rock Band, Rock Band should've won.

the sheer amount of choices for Rock Band dlc should have made it an obvious inner. Besides they gave us Still Alive for free

TF2. After a year of playing it has still kept me entertained. And I plan on playing it much, much longer as the new achievements, unlockable weapons, and maps come out.
