Perfect when you just want some simple puzzling!

I downloaded Bejeweled 2 as a newbie - never having played it on my PC. However, I was instantly hooked. I love these sorts of games where you have to match three or more colours, shapes or whatever and there are plenty on the internet to sake my thirst. However, on the Xbox there aren't so many and Bejeweled fits the bill perfectly. If you play Puzzle Quest (another Xbox Live game) then you'll be right at home with Bejeweled 2.

The graphics are beautiful with alien planet backgrounds - it's amazing how lovely what is, at the end of the day, a grid of jewels can be made to look. The sound is also perfect - although I don't find the music very "hypnotic" - I prefer Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite while I'm playing, personally.

As mentioned in the G.S. review the achievements are very hard to unlock and I still haven't done any, despite having the game for three months and thought I had done enough to at least unlock the "completed 8 levels" achievement, but nope, still nothing.

But then I don't play these games just for achievement points - if I wanted to do that, I'd find all the easiest games and build up my score that way. No, I'm playing the game for the game's sake.

But despite the achievements grumble (or perhaps because of it) you are constantly wanting to just have one more try.

If you want a simple puzzler without a lot of extra fuss then this could be the one for you.
