Bayonetta (PS3) is a charming, funny, and pulse-pounding action game that you can't help but fall in love with.

I am late to the party-again. Bayonetta came out early last year and here we are in the summer of 2011. To be honest I was waiting for the price to drop and once it hit the $20.00 mark I decided to get it and for the price I am simply amazed at just how much fun is contained in this game.

Let's get this out of the way now: the XBOX 360 version versus the PS3 version. I don't own an XBOX 360 therefore I don't know about the differences (I hear the XBOX 360 version is better) and that may be so, but if you don't own an XBOX 360 or have no intention of doing so then why worry? I know that the PS3 version plays well and looks good. Bascially, you can't wrong with either version in my opinion.

So, firing up the game I decided to install it to my system (after experiencing the game without it) because the load times are a bit long, but not too bad really (especially after the install). Once things got going the humor is the first thing that really struck me as pretty witty. Then the cool factor ratchets up when you're allowed to fight for the first time. If you love the "Devil May Cry" series then one will feel right at home here. Unlimited bullets spew forth from dual-wielded guns and even the guns on your lower extremities as well. It's absolutely crazy!

I'm not going to get too much into the story, but I will talk about the graphics. Amazingly done with a lot of beautiful environments and the music is really good too. The bosses are HUGE! and really well done. It reminds me of the "God of War" series. A store called "The Gates of Hell" is where you can purchase moves, weapons, and other misc items. The dealer is serious, but can be quite funny when you tries his hand at humor (what are ya buyin?)

The only negatives I have are these:

-It's kinda short. Actually this is a minor issue because it does have a decent length, but at the end I really wanted more (read: I wanted to keep playing)

-The motorcycle/missle scene. Don't want to give too much away here, but I will say this: it's cool at first, but as the minutes pass by it gets just a little annoying (I found myself asking: are we there yet?)

-I found myself in some parts going "Okay-what now?" (maybe I'm getting older and things have to slap me upside the head or bite me in order for to know what I need to do next).

Beautiful environments, great soundtrack, a very cool character (Bayonetta), a decent story, massive action, and all for $20.00?! yeah, it's a MUST BUY. It's a great game and even though I've completed it I am so looking forward to playing through it again (especially for the boss battles). I'm really hoping for a sequel because the production values are clearly there and I think a sequel would be mind-blowing.

Thank you for reading my review/retrospective.
