I'm still playing this game after completing the Japanese campaign and moving on to the American one. So I just decided to write a review so more people can get to know about this neat little game.
First of all, the game offers tons of features that really are invisible to the naked eye unless you manage to somehow discover them accidentally.
Let me explain: the tutorial is horrible. It doesn't really explain to you HOW to play the game. All it does is give you a big pop-up and say, here are ALL the keyboard controls, now complete the objective. Hence the game has a steep learning curve. Luckily its a very short learning curve aswell and once you complete the first few missions you'll get the hang of it.
One thing that I didn't learn in the tutorial was the importance of the map. I only realized about halfway through the third mission that the map is actually the core of the game and allows you to easily give orders and switch units quickly. The tutorial throws a handful of information at you about it and its easy to just skip over it.
In essence, the missions are huge battles between the Americans and Japanese during WWII. It offers tons of units and classes for you to pick from and actually play. From the japanese late "Shinden" model airplane, to the huge American "South Dakota" class battleship.
Although you control only one unit at a time, the AI takes over for the other units while still allowing you to switch in between whenever you want. Its still going to be up to you to actually deploy planes and capture islands though....
Overall the game is incredibly fun. Wheather you're firing all 9 of the 16 inch guns of your battleship, stealthly moving your submarine for a torpedo strike or simply strafing cargo vessels with your zero fighter, you'll enjoy it.
Good hunting!

Although it has a steep learning curve you will master the controls in two or three missions.
