"*Disclaimer* If you are looking for a Massively Multi player Battlefield 1942 just give WW2 online a 1/10 and ignore it, this game is NOT FOR YOU! "

"Battleground Europe: World War Two Online, is a re-release of World War 2 Online: Blitzkrieg. Blitzkrieg being the name the game had during is 2001 launch. Initially this game had a significant number of bugs, and the graphics where just plain awful to look at. Now after several hundred patches & a new name WW2 online has become some what a of cult classic, with its own small but extremely dedicated community."

"The game is a Massively Multi player First person shooter Set on a massive map featuring a small scale recreation of Europe, which can take over 1 ½ hours to fly across. Players can gain rank and obtain new weapons sets at various ranks to help keep the game fresh and exiting during their career in a virtual army. Game Play: World War 2 Online is a Simulation, any one who expects to have an experience similar to the Battlefield games be warned you will not get that in this game. As a simulator the game goes into a substantial amount of detail, from one shot kills, ballistic penetration of Armor, so on and so forth. Being a simulation the Game has an extreme learning curve; online documentation is more like a text book than a game manual. A joystick in almost required to operate vehicles, as a slider bar is almost required to operate a vehicles throttle, players will have to map about 10 keys for different throttle settings with a keyboard. Players encounter similar key mapping problems for steering a tank as one key would apply clutch / brake to one track and another key would be needed to release the clutch / brake (If not separate keys for different percentages for brake pressures). Finding action in WW2 Online is extremely difficult for first timers, CRS has added in a whole new menu system that is supposed to alleviate this. I am not sure they have quite fixed the problem, but they are heading in a good direction. Since the 2001 release CRS has added Mobile spawn points for infantry to use (only if another player is using a truck as one) which drastically cut down on the time it takes to enter a fire fight. CRS has also added Para Troopers to the game. New players should be prepared to die, A lot… Infantry is extremely hard to use and extremely vulnerable to enemy fire, but are essential for capturing control points in cities."

"Graphics: WW2 Online's Graphics have come a long way from its initial release. Trees are beginning to look like trees, and Water now has dynamic lighting. The game is still dated in graphics, but players need to consider that on the ground players can see for 6Km, and up to 8 Km when flying around in a plane. So there are very few computers that could run the game if it looked like Battlefield 2. The plus side is that CRS is continually bringing out new patches, which usually add a new piece of eye candy to the game."

"Sound FX: WW2 Online has done its sound effects fairly well. Infantry weapons and Tanks have recently had all their audio redone."

"Replay Value: If you can survive WW2 Online's steep learning curve, you will probably find that you can't stop playing the game. One of the feature that this game gives players above all else is a sense of accomplishment, and being a part of something bigger. Unlike most "Shoe Box" Shooters, the game doesn't stop after you log off, nor does it end after you lose a town, or take a town. Your gains from one day could be the next day's loss, or you could push all the way to the opposition's factory towns, and declare victory for the campaign. Further more the game stresses combined Arms tactics, no Attack in the game is ever successful with out Infantry, Air, & Armor working together (some towns also allow for Navel forces)." "Overall WW2 Online is a good game, but it can defiantly be better. I must Stress that the game is a Simulation, if you prefer to play Battlefield, or Counterstrike type games WW2 Online is NOT for you. If you like simulation games, WW2 online excels as one, it is one of the better WW2 flight simulators I've played, and the flight simulator is only a small part of the game. I've given WW2 Online a 7.5/10 because it sets out to be a simulator and it does a good job as being one. "
