Battlefield Heroes is really disappointing. The horrible connection issues and lag really let this game down. Big time.

When Battlefield Heroes was released, in was expecting a fun online free to play online shooter, with the addition of vehicles to further expand the gameplay. Instead, what I got, was a useless mess of connection errors and laggy gameplay.

Firstly, to start off, Battlefield Heroes is a free to play online multiplayer shooter. What this means is that the game is free to download off EA's Battlefield Heroes website. Not all of the game is free however, and you have to pay real money for the in game costumes and abilities. This weakens the experience for me, because I would have preferred to buy the game upfront for about 20 quid, then have everything in the game for me to unlock as I rank up.

Ok, the gameplay in Battlefield Heroes is broken. When you try to shoot someone, lets say with a machine gun, it takes about 5 seconds of continuous shooting to actually kill someone. Not just is that amazingly unrealistic, but it is also a pain. Climbing up ladders is a tricky task as well. When you try to climb, you fall, and sometimes you're character will not recognize that there is a ladder there. Also, the vehicles drive badly, with no realism or drift, and becuase of the lag issues, you often end up crashing into a building that you drove past 10 minutes ago. The sniping is also dreadful, with it taking about 4 shots to kill someone.

The class system is also badly designed. In the game, you create "Heroes" which work as you're in game characters. When created, you choose what gun you want them to carry. When you get into battle, you cannot change Hero, so you are stuck with that gun until the end of the game. This is bad, and really annoying, especially when you see an enemy position from the top of a church tower, and you want to snipe, but you can't, as you have a submachine gun selected.

A good point of the game is its beautiful cartoony graphics, which look excellent at any angle. Due to the lag and connection issues, the graphics seem let down.

Overall, Battlefield Heroes is not worth getting. For PC owners, wait til 1943, and for console owners, get 1943, as it is far better, and worth you're money.
