It's the best Free to Play game I ever played

User Rating: 9 | Battlefield Heroes PC
The Free to Play model is growing but most of the games are not as great as they should be. BF:Heroes is the first one to really make it right.

The game is a full featured (but scaled down, of course) version of the famous Battlefield. Unlike all other titles of the series, this one isn't a standalone game, it's installed as a plug-in for Internet Explorer or Firefox, both serving as a launcher. The way EA found to put this experience in the browser is transform BF universe in a more "cartoonish" fun atmosphere. Resembling Team Fortress 2, the simpler graphics are used as an advantage, bringing more personality to the game and permitting players with weaker gears to enjoy it.

There's only one game mode, the classic flag capture based team multiplayer we can see in all the franchise. The variety are in the maps (too few of them, but probably not for long), that are separated in Infantry, smaller, richer in details, providing a great man-to-man dispute and Vehicle, much greater and with open fields, offering a generous number of tanks, airplanes and cars.

Another great feature are the RPG elements. Like a role-playing game, the player chooses a class when creating his char, each one with its own abilities. As playing, it gains XP points and Valor Points, used to buy abilities, weapons, clothes and unlocking new missions.

The only complain about BF:Heroes is that having to initiate the browser and going to the site to play is kind annoying, but is a solution that certainly reinforces its concept. Is a great multiplayer game if you want to get in and get down, a casual shooter, if that label can be used. So just hit Play Now and have fun.
