A really solid shooter that definitely begins turning up the heat on some other popular shooters out there.
After playing this one I sort of feel like COD is just more of an arcade game while this FPS ratchets up the tactical combat a good bit which makes things a lot more intentional. That is, it's not about just killing scores of enemies as much as it is about strategically taking down your opponent. I really appreciated that approach in this one and the destructible environments added to it in a fun way. Though games like Killzone scale realistic fighting and intelligent AI to another level altogether, this one is, indeed, a competitor.
Without comparing the graphics to the upcoming BF3, one can readily tell that this area is one that is only beginning to shine in this series. While the graphics are certainly not the best out there, the environments are still very well done with an attention to realism that only will be significantly upgraded in BF3. Too the audio production and characters are done extremely well which demonstrates a commitment beyond just the combat system and weapons array.
BFBC2 certainly opens up the playing field for some strong competition with COD. In fact, as it stands now, I feel this one has a lot more potential. Despite some cheap kills now and again that can frustrate, Battlefield is quickly rising up to possibly be THE modern warfare shooter of this gen.
