Whenever I do play Recon, which is rare, I'm very close to the front lines along with the rest of my squad. I only use the m24 and get plenty of headshots along with being able to use my motion mines to further help my team. The few times I've played Recon and played like this I've been at least top two on my team.

If you can aim and think under pressure, you can still use the sniper to it's full potential without being "a mile away."

It just takes skill. Something a lot of people lack.

Oh, and the mortar cooldown is not long AT ALL. In fact, it's way too short. I was so surprised how quick the cooldown was when I first unlocked the mortar. It's ridiculous.

::points to post #2 about the various recon classes::

So you play as a marksman or an infiltrator when you do? Welcome to the world of recon. The class is more than just being a sniper. So you're basically saying that you agree with my guide? Thanks! :-D Request a sticky?

I only play recon a bit, my friend almost only plays recon, but we both play assault style, we have a G3 and our trusty knife and paired with motion mines that knife is a deadly weapon! I have over 500 knife kills not including the demo of course, while my roommate has over 1200. The recon class is great in conquest for both taking and defending bases, you have great camo and the advantage of seeing anything moving in range of your recon balls. Along with C4 I think recon is probably the most effective class in sneaking around and doing the dirty work, whether its C4'n a tank, sneaking up and stabbing that pesky sniper, or taking a base, the assault recon style is my favourite!!!

Except for the fact that I only use bolt action rifles and never the semi-auto ones. Don't need semi-auto when if I shoot you once with my m24 while you're close, you die.

Other than that, overall I think the guide could be helpful to some people. I think a lot of people will just completely ignore it though and play the way they want to, whether that helps the team or not. But I shall sticky anyway since you asked nicely

Yes people suck at all classes. But ill take a team of medics who dont heal or revive over a team of sucky recons any day. Yes there are amazing recon players, but when 99.9% of all recon players suck i just round up.

    3. Infiltrator
    Ninja
Weapon: Shotguns, thompson, semi auto sniper with red dot
    Gadget: C4
Specs: ex ammo upgrade, 12 gauge slug, ex dmg, light weight
Range: CQB (close quarter battle) to short
Role: assualting the crate, counter vehicle

You do know that if you use shotgun, M14, M1, thompson or G3 with the assault kit, you get both C4 AND ammo refill? There is no point in using the recon ****unless you're a sucker for motion balls

Why is "class" a bad word at times?

And yes, recon balls are a given since this is a thread talking about the recon class..... that would be why you'd use this set up instead of going assault....
  • Mar 15, 2010 9:59 am GMT
And BTW, the points you get doesn't count towards your score if you die right after you get them. So if you kill yourself with C4, you won't get the points. Dunno if this is a bug, but that's how it is.

A proper FAQ should be written about using MP Recon class... I'd write it if I had any ability with the class.
