I know this sounds like good news but I have a strong feeling that the "online pass" will be replaced with something far worse, EA is not a company that does something like this without a back up plan that makes things worse then they currently are. EA is hated for a reason and they are notorious for doing little good and worse evil.

EA is up to something and it stinks to high hell we just don't know what the turd is yet but it will be squeezed out at some point.

Thanks Jess. This is a brilliant step in the right direction for EA.

Here's hoping they remove the Origin requirement for boxed EA games next.

"Consumers didn't seem to like it [online passes]" What was not to like, again? I swear to god, this company is run by a bunch of absolute idiots. Please, Mr. EA CEO, could you provide one reason why consumer would like online passes? Just one.

No? Okay then.

I have no idea how this company is so successful run by people like this.

I love it when consumers drop the bomb; it needs to happen a lot more often.

many players didn?t respond to the format!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

All it means is they are dropping the financial aspect of being able to pay to play a used game.
In future there will be no option to play used games full stop.

Not only did it prevent sales but it also prevented online activation's which resulted in empty servers. Becaues players didnt want to de-value there game come resale.

i had 3 games ive never played online because of this myself

now it's time for "real money transaction" to come-in isn't it EA? i guess when you play multiplayer now you have to pay for setup like perk /upgrade/skin etc. like starter-pack for 9.99 (include with new copy) and something like 14.99 for veteran-pack (include with special edition) right? please EA you won't cut yourself if there isn't something more profits that fill your "Greed-need" waiting to be REPLACE.  [if that so, you can keep your online pass, i for one 'm not gonna buy it or use it anyway.]

Let this be the most important lesson on their side how we spend our money on games worth the value. without any other bullshit attempt to force players into online restrictions playing online games.

EA listening to it's customers? What the hell?!?!?! It has to be some sort of paradox or something!!! This makes no damn sense what so ever!

Until they announce the "used pass" for next gen that you have to buy to be able to play any content on a used game.

No single fan of an EA game would consider this bad news.

Great, I can actually play multi at a friend's house without paying $15 or however much it was.

Great, now when i rent an online game from Gamefly, like Dead Space 3 for example i will no longer have to pay 10-15$ just to play co-op like i did.

Soooooo why keep a soon to be outdated "online pass" when they will have the power of  "always online" from their next console of choice - the soon to be officially announced Xbox????

Simple, announce this "Drastic" seeming change of heart and win back some good PR a week before new partner Microsoft makes their play for your spending money.

Marketing and PR - What was it Bill Hicks used to say about people in marketing???? :D

EA did something sensible.
Everyone, get in your bunkers, the world is about to end.
