Battlefield used to be a multiplayer only title. Who cares about the campaign, look at it like a bonus feature. Don't deduct points off a great game's score because the campaign sucks!

Terrible review gamespot. "I didn't like the single player so I wont talk about it". Not very journalistic.

IMO, if a game doesn't have a worthwhile campaign, it ain't worth buying. Good multiplayer will last a few years at best, but good campaigns are forever.

In ten years, no one's going to give a shit whether this game had good multiplayer or not.

"In ten years, no one's going to give a shit whether this game had good multiplayer or not."

Well that's just very wrong, there are still a lot of fans of Battlefield 1942, Vietnam and Battlefield 2, none of which even had a singleplayer campaign. People still play it today. And most people I know who played and still play the Bad Company series didn't play the singleplayer even though I thought it was excellent.

If the multiplayer is that good, in ten years no one will give a shit whether Battlefield 3 had a campaign or not. I think you got it the wrong way round.

You're comparing apples to oranges there mate.

Besides, what I meant was that in the future (ten years was just an estimate), when new consoles have taken over, and the old games' online multiplayer is no longer supported (like what happened to, say, Halo 2) then a game's multiplayer will become a lot less important. Whereas a game with a really good plot will still be interesting-- because the way one plays it won't be affected by time.

eventhough i dont like bf3 as much as bf2 why does the games campaign have such a big importance on the rating? this is a battlefield game not cod. Battlefield veterans only buy the game for multiplayer.

bf2  and bf42 is way better!

ONe of my all time favourites, the alleged controversy adds to the exquisite visuals and flowing FPS action. You gotta love it, I'm just wondering when the sequel comes out.

I am Irainian and see no problem in the game even though it is about us it is a VIDEO GAME! so for everybody saying it is effensive it is not. Most pusians today do not like the government anyway and it is not anything personal to us. And for the Iranian who said it is more powerful than America, America will destroy Iran. it sounds mean but it is way bigger and more high tech and we have nukes

I am Iranian I like this game.It doesn't make our people look bad just our . . . government.

And we cant blame US for any content in this game as it isnt developed by an US studio. Its developed in Sweden by Dice. And we in Sweden dont at all hate anyone in Iran. They just did a game and Iran seams to get to be the enemy in the campaign this time. Lack of ideas I guess. Dont take it to hard! "peace" Rock N Roll!!

Satan666HellDie
Satan666HellDie

Its a game! This has nothing to do with real life! Fighting Iran in this game has nothing to do with whats going on in the real world. They should have researched alitle bit more I guess If they managed to mix up some flags of Iran or Iraq. But Im sure they didnt do it to insult anyone. Just a researcher who had a realy bad day. So please! Let games be games, and the real world be the real world! That what games does for me, an escape from the real world.

Reviews should be more clear on wether they're talking about single- or on-line multi-player. All I retain here is that the game sucks in single campaign and is awesome in online multi-player... I never play online but found the single player campaign to be very nice.

to all the Iranians, Please STFU with your trolling. When was the last time you saw a bunch of Karachiites complaining to IW for putting a KARACHI map in it? It's a game dumbass

@benny1366 I agree. I don't know why DICE chose Iran to be the enemy in BF3. The real enemy is Al-Qaeda, and the US isn't even at war with Iran. Tehran was represented as being a big city though. At the beginning of Operation Guillotine, you look over Tehran and it seems pretty big. But BF3 does insult Iran and possibly Russia, two countries that aren't enemies of the US.

jayjay444

@Fatmanfatman123  @benny1366 aren't enemy's yet u mean, its only a matter of time before the US wan'ts to invade Iran to stop there nuke program and probs drag in other countries like they normally do like the UK.

@benny1366 u surely right man this game campaign is awful and its sooo insulting for iran who do they think they r ???? go to hell ea with ur sh.....game ...and well said mate

This game is not so good especially in campaign mode it even can not compete with COD MW3 in single mode but i`ve heard its great in multi player!!! this game in my opinion is a bad make of Iran which I mean Arabic Signs IN IRAN or Iraqi flag in IRAN ???? which is very insulting for Iranians !!! also Tehran is almost as big as LA even bigger with same 7mil population !!!but all u can see in this game is just Milad Tower which tells u this city is Tehran !!! Ask urself a question ??? CAN USA ATTACK RUSSIA OR CHINA right now ?? if it can surely it can Iran too !!!Simple Iran is no Iraq !!

MartinWan1979
MartinWan1979

This game is multiplayer oriented, the campaign is just a "big" tutorial to advance later on the online mode. If you want a great campaign you can go on Crysis 2 (for example). But if you want a top notch multiplayer experience, with amazing graphics, great gameplay tactics and vehicles to drive...Go with Battlefield 3!!!

@realguitarhero5- Bioshock is one of my favorites.I was looking for a single player fps to play in between Skyrim.Infinites out next year. Thanks for the reply.

realguitarhero5
realguitarhero5

@williebazerka You should play a game like Bioshock for a single player FPS. TBH, MW3 had a better single player than BF3... but with games like this, it's the multiplayer that counts.

williebazerka

I wanted a single player fps so I got COD.I started it took 1 look and shut it off without firing one shot.I should have bought BF3 no matter what they say about the campaign.

@moonroot Western governments do not function like Iran's. Western democracies have elections that are not a farce--leadership changes on a regular basis. People who want change are not shot in the streets.Democracy, and particularly capitalism are not infallible--but they are vastly different than the dictatorship that rules Iran. I have the freedom to criticize my government through voicing my opinion, peaceful protest, and the electoral process. These freedoms are absent in Iran and you know it.

Tacoholic23

"..Singleplayer fails to capitalize on series strengths." Lol what?! Battlefield has always been about the multiplayer until that crappy PC port called "Bad Company 2" was release...

CaineFH
CaineFH

@moonroot I dont know from which country you are from, but ask yourself this question. Where would you prefere to live, in democracy or a religious dictator ship? And one more thing; why do you think people try to escape FROM these dictatorships countries to the vestern/democratic world and not the other way? It's because most people, strange enough, prefere freedom vs whipping.

As far as I know, even inside Iran government there are conflicts. The priests and the military are struggling against each other more and more. @pop-warriorwith About not having a suicide kill in 30 years. Put "iran suicide kill dozens" (without quotes) in your google. If it doesn't appear what happened in Tehran in 2010, your internet is being censored.

moonroot

@CaineFH Western media is as corrupt as any other country's media and governments are governments the world round. Yours functions very similarly to Iran's, you just don't realize it because you have been cultured to accept 'democracy' and capitalism as infallible.

CaineFH

pop-warriorwith Of course it was the government. Who else should be. Any saine person would not hurt people for demostrating for freedom.

pop-warriorwith

@CaineFH It wasn't government . I swear . Obviously you are insisting on your idea and nothing is going to change it . Maybe it is because rumors you heard .

CaineFH

@pop-warriorwith The deference bestween the killings in a school and the iranian killings, is that it was a sick individual, that killed the people in the school. In your country its the government. Do you see the deference? And Im not disrespecting your people, I was disrepescting your opinion.

Dear CaineFH Something happens in my country that I will never find out .the Same thing happens in yours and any other country.it's inevitable.it happens all over the world . I've seen this myself many times in almost any side of the world and I'm sure about this. There is no entirely bright news in any country . you should know it yourself . I don't know where r u from and why r u insisting on those students but I watched myself many times that students have been shot and killed by other student in the same school in united states and watched a scene that I will never forget which an innocent unarmed palestinian father and his little son were killed by Israeil army when that father was covering his son not to be shot and they weren't doing anything but living their life .The most important thing is that we shouldn't make news big and repeat it many times to make everyone think it happens lots of times in my country. and about thumbs down that you said , I'm sorry .But what do you expect me to do? you were disrespecting my people .you wanted me to be agree with you? anyway, apologies .I didn't mean to make you unhappy . The last thing i want you to know, is : I wish if you and anyone with your idea have seen my country and it's people to judge the subject by yourself and not by things that I or anyone else told you .That is the only way that you may once believe me . PLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE , Dont continue because we are sending spoilers and making this thread very busy .

CaineFH

@pop-warriorwith. Oh, THAT is why the students, was beaten down, and killed it's all just crap from the media. The revolution on facebook, was just in people's imagination, and so is the revolution in egypt, and lebanon and other muslim countries. You are deluted, either that or you are on top of the so called society in iran, and stand to loose all your privilegies in case the masses got rid of the priests. And stop giving people thumbs down, just because you disagree, it's pathetic.

pop-warriorwith
pop-warriorwith

@CaineFH I'm not talking about other countries .and thank you , I know these things happens in countries that you mentioned. I was talking about mine .and no one will punish me if I think or talk otherwise.I dont really know what you've heard about us and why you're thinking this way . That's why I'm telling you that your government and it's media puts crap on your mind. PLEASE dont continue this argument. It's just waist of time for u and me .

CaineFH
CaineFH

pop-warriorwith Lol, the fact that you live in a religious hell hole does not make your argument more valid, and Im pretty sure the censorship you are exposed to does not make it any easier for you. Bombs blows in irak, pakistan, afhganistan, indonisia, malaysia, all on the "muslim to do list". I know you had students demonstrating about 1 - 2 years ago, and they were beating down. Im not surprissed you praise iran, if you didn't do that I guess you would have your internet connection cut and family executed.

pop-warriorwith Im gusiing it's because people in Iran do not have acces to a free press, you dont know this, so you are excused i guess. In Indonisia, turkey, irak, afganistan, pakistan, people still get killed in by religious muslims. Oh, but wait. You live in a religious muslims country, so you might not hear abouth this, Im gussing.

@fucadyme: yeah... I know what you mean. At least Bad Company 2 TRIED to give you a decent single player experience for your money. But each of these universes USED to give you HUGE maps with a lasting flavor to them. What the hell happened to them? This focus on multi-player and less single-player really rubs me the wrong way. It's almost like they're DEMANDING I go elsewhere to get my singleplayer fix and while Battlefield was originally more for the multiplayer, COD used to make single-player gaming their main focus.
