wow i cant believe mw3 actually outsells this game. Best fps on market bar none.
There is so much content in the game. I will start with single player and co-op. If you are purely this type of player then i recommend a rental. This is the weakest part of the package but also can provide enough thrills to keep you entertained for several hours. SP is alot like your typical fps. You go from level to level with a squad doing objectives and killing everything in sight. The jet level breaks the monotony and was quite entertaining. The story is not bad for the genre and is enough to want the player to see it through to the end. The graphics and gunplay are the main attractions though. A player can run through the game in about 6-8 hours. The coop provides a few thrills with a buddy and also holds some exclusive unlocks for the real meat of the game, the multiplayer. I found the coop to be fun and frustrating at the same time. Players probably will run through the coop in about 2-4 hours with little incentive to replay. Overall a solid effort from dice who are known for there mp not sp. Judging the game from sp and coop only the game would recieve a 7.5. But anyone who has played a battlefield game before knows the mp is where the fun and countless hours will be had.
I enjoyed the bad company games but the original frostbite engine wasn't quite as good as the cod engine. So those games while really fun they still left a little to be desired. The same can't be said of the frostbite 2 engine. This in my opinion far surpasses the cod engine that has been milked for 5 years now. The graphics are excellent with destructable environments. The guns behave alot more realistic than in the cod series. A player must become accustomed to his or her weapon. You can't just pick up a gun and hold down the trigger and expect to do well. Also when a player vaults over ledges or dives behind cover it feels like a human being instead of some super soldier. The gunplay is where this game excells far beyond its competitors. Players actually get to have gunfights in this game and providing cover fire for your teammates is important. There are so many guns to use in this game it is almost daunting in finding certain guns to use. I have chosen to switch guns everytime i get all the unlocks for that certain weapon. Also you don't bring a knife to a gun fight like in some other games...cough. But the thrill of sneaking up behind some unsuspecting sniper and spinning him around and sticking a knife in his chest is very gratifying. There are also plenty of game modes to choose from. There are the conquest and rush games where if you are a vehicle type player then this is your game. From flying jets to humvees this game provides plenty of vehicle thrills. Although i do wish there was a way to practice the controls, especially the jets. But i also love the steep learning curve. Then you have a 4 on 4 rush with no vehicles which is very intense. There are several forms of deathmatch available as well. There is no reason players couldn't play this game for years and still not have everything unlocked or there max rank finished. The wealth of content is amazing. One more thing about the mp is how realistic the scopes are. If you have ever shot a gun with an holographic or acog sight then you will understand what i mean.
Overall a quality package that is much more realistic and competitive than its competition. Only if you want an ADHD or an arcade shooter would you choose mw3 over bf3. For me the cod series has gone bye bye in favor of BF3.
